Hi all,
Looking for inputs from sifus in the fast & furious.

I just got a new car this past one week.

When i checked on the chassis to my surprise it is manufactured on Dec 2018 while what I paid is for a 2019 car. So basically I would have lost a year of depreciation in value. During the purchasing process the sales confirmed that it is a 2019 car.

How can the chassis is showing it as a 2018 manufactured while JPJ shows it is a 2019 manufactured car?

Hope sifus can advice on this.

It's more common than you think.

The car produced in Dec 2018 but the manufacturer gets it written down as 2019 unit so not to lose 1 year's value immediately after rolling out from the factory and sits in the stockyard, especially for less popular brands. If they don't do this, they will have to stop assembling vehicles for the last few months of the year to avoid losing out in depreciation.

You can pursue the case with the carmaker like previosly a Mazda owner in FnF did, or you can comfort yourself that as long as JPJ says it is a 2019 car, you can sell it as a 2019 car.

How do you lose 1 yr depreciation when JPJ clearly state your car is 2019?

Can post the link to the website?

Most likely since your car CKD, the parts were manufactured in 2018 only made into car in 2019? rclxub.gif

but most of the times chassis number plate put on the chassis after an entire car is completed, not very likely when bare chassis is newly built

so that means it's very likely a previous year vehicle, brand new no mileage just have aged thru the turn of new year, not good if is left exposed under sun during storage

some buyers will be very particular, they will purposely go key in their chassis vin no into online database to decipher the manufactured year, nothing wrong with that thou.

this is one of the website, https://en.vindecoder.pl/

the vios vin plate just now, PN153HYF005000002 did not reveal manufactured year, in this aspect, toyota prevents such buyer predicament already

chassis does not take overnight to be manufactured.
probably the headlights, bulb, bodyparts, seats etc..... were also from 2018 too.

Maybe you can file complaint on those items too.

Your car manufactured determines the market value.

this is true.

with the chasis number means basically the car have been sitting under the hot sun for a number of months. and this in turn it might have caused a long term problem to the car.

I also faced the same situation as yours. I bought a sporty blue Honda city on March 2015. I insisted i want a 2015 car. Document date is 2015. But when i checked my vin no. in Honda MY website to check for any recall, it says my car is a 2014 made. Since sport blue color was not produced anymore and i liked my car at that time, i didn't make a fuss. Hopefully it wont affect my RV in future.
