Before jump to any conclusion, my laptop E5520 got problem on battery status plugged in but not charging. I got this problem on saturday, battery already full charged before i turn on the laptop, so i don't use power adapter. Then, around nearly 1 hour my battery on 85%, then suddenly goes down 15% until 9%. So, i plugged it with ac power adapter to charge it. i let it charged while turn on laptop without do nothing until its stuck at 15%. At first i thought its was windows update that i have installed on last friday. So, i have try finding any solution through internet, none of that are working for me.

So, my last solution that i have tried gone through hardware, i used it the laptop until battery finished without ac adapter connected. So, i let its cool down for while, and put ac adapter to charge without turn on my laptop around 4 hours. After that, i turn its back on again, go through the bios to check the battery status, its charged stuck until 15% only. My Bios firmware already latest version. So, i view back double check with power adapter and battery. I cleanup the spot of battery and the battery jack. I let the battery finished again and charged again without turn it on half hour and i turn on my laptop to view again, the problem still same stuck at 15%.

When i view through internet there a lot of dell users changed charged jack at laptop, then problem gone. And another one that i got from youtube, problem from battery slot, after changed it, problem gone..Is it my ac power adapter problem or my battery problem?when i check my ac power adapter, its show like in yellow circle. When i turn on the laptop with using ac adapter but without battery, its normal, no automatic off or blue screen. When, I tried plug back the battery its still stuck at 15% battery status plugged in but not charging. Here the view of battery status in bios. icon_question.gif

Here, the ac power adapter that i got when buying a laptop. If my ac power adapter problem, which power adapter suitable for my laptop?its there any problem regarding using third party brand?I'm prefer original, how much the range price for original. Thanks.

Already done that many times, my laptop can still on. But when i want to charge the battery by turning on laptop or shutdown, result still same, battery status still stuck at 15%. I have laying around the wire of ac adapter straight forward especially yellow round in picture, my laptop still can detect on normally but still not charging the battery even i don't switch on my laptop.

I'm using Latitude E7250 since 2016. From day 1 I plug the machine to the adaptor 90% for each day, until today the batt still running strong and can stand by itself at least for 5- 6 hours.

Our power adaptor not the same. Mine is the slim type.

Nice. I have search the ac power adapter for my laptop series, some sellers sold 90w and 65w, mostly i found 90w. 65w that same specs as my ac power adapter a bit difficult to find it. You used original one or oem power adapter?

since the adapter is working fine, battery is probably the culprit (since you mentioned sudden capacity drop while on battery)

Better get original but the cost isn't worth it

Yes original come with the machine.
Not sure if the battery falls under warranty, if yes just go make a report faulty.

I changed my screen due to 1 tiny black dot (dead pixel) at the edge of the screen. A technician came and change it for free and he did mention if I have an issue with battery for this model he said can make a report and change for free too if within warranty.

Good luck bro.
