Hi guys, may I ask about the work life at Petronas and do they pay well?
How is the career progression from fresh graduate at petronas as a chemical engineer?

Worth it to work with Petronas?

if your major is chemical engineering they most likely will push you to petronas chemical group.

usually they offer 5k for fresh graduate diploma level. but employees benefits are not that interesting compared to few years back thou.

if you were accepted most probably you will be sent to kertih port though.

Petronas bonus this year 5 to 7 months. I know because thst is my business.

Of course it depends on performance, division and department as well

If u are not pet staff, i suggest you keep quiet and stop spreading wrong information about the company.

To TS, if u are thinking of pursuing a degree to get into petronas i would suggest you consider UTP. They provide convertible loan sponsorship for bright student which would provide u with an opportunity to interview with them at the end of your 4 year degree tenure. Also, high performer gets selected to intern at Mercedes AMG Petronas F1.

Petronas is a big company, many different job scope spanning across different industry (upstream, midstream, downstream, retail & commercial)

Ex-Pet staff here. Good starting ground for freshies. Good career progression if u excel in their skill group development program/interview

not meh? forgive me. just heard rumors from friends at pcgb few years back..

Pay is very dependent on oil price.
Because their increment is average 3-10% unless promotion.
What petronas staff value the most is the bonus. Based on current oil price, performance bonus is 1 month to 9 months.
Epf after 10 years increase to 18% i think. Definitely worth to stay if you are in for the long run.

Career progression wise, you have to stay x amount of years before you can get promoted.

But you have to be prepared for the politics.

Fair to say that personnel in petronas stay for quite awhile because of the perks. Once you get in, you see people that worked in the petronas for 10/20/30 years and the culture might not be the best if you are coming external.

Non exec pay is 4-6k (depends on location)

Exec starts lower but climbs fast and its just mad money from thereafter

But yeah HR fucking sucks and politics is cancer, the staffs aren't skillful too (lotsa money, just pay third party to fix)

My fren previously got offered by pet n astro for same post. Astro offered slightly higher

lol even deg. holder get 4K at my time..diploma should be lower.

chemical engineer not all go to plant, some even get procurement or cost control job hahaha mostly ladies la.

The most problematic part of petronas is HR.. i so so pening with them.

dont let me start with their policies such cannot get married within same department (2009) , but now i think no more.

usually they will send you to Petronas Research Sdn Bhd (PRSB). I know they are looking aggressively for suitable candidates now. unless you rather opt for industrial experiences.

Not sure about the starting pay but it can be as low as RM7k?
