It’s thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) test.

First check in Oct was done in BP but they didn’t tell me anything.

The second and third test was done in hospital while I was food poison in Gleneagle. The doc ask me to go back and test again in Mar as he think low TSH was due to the medicine I took?

Anyway, I I have a doubt with the Gelnneagle doc as he is not the specialist with this field. Hence, I decided go to Sunway medical to visit the specialist and which nearer to my house.

Okay, going to a professional is always more secure if you're unsure. Don't have to be too worried. Thyroid problem is pretty common and once you undergo treatment you'll see the difference. Stay on with the same doctor once you're comfortable with him/ her.

A normal GP can also treat it actually, provided the doctor has experience and expertise in managing patients with thyroid. I've seen 2-3 different doctors in the past year that I was diagnosed and ended up going back to the first doctor. Reason i changed was due to location as her clinic is pretty far from my home... but decided it's best to go back to her because she has all my reports, progress etc and was able to advice well.

Maybe I bring paranoid, lol. So let’s see what the specialists says after tomorrow visitation.

But exercise regularly like at least 4 times a week (cardio and weight).

Meaning not too serious. When i first started it was 4 tablets a day. 1 a day is pretty mild. Just follow up with doctor the next round and hope your condition stabilised.

Oh no, from 4 tablets then reduced to 2, and finally 1 when everything stabilized. All these were adviced by the doctor.

Doc asked me to go off meds since the 1.5 years had passed and my condition appears to be fine. Need to do monitoring/ check up 6 months later.

Few years and still on Carbimazole? Or is she taking a different medication?

Carbimazole is not meant to be taken long term because there will be side effects. That's why doctor asks to stop after 1.5 years.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbimazole#Adverse_effects
https://www.healthhub.sg/a-z/medications/102/carbimazole

Also check with your doctor on this. Need to take care of blood cell count as well if you're still on Carbimazole.

Lastly, her sleep condition may or may not be related to the medication she's taking or her condition. Did she consult the doctor of this issue? What's the cause of her inability to sleep? Is it due to the heart palpitation from her hyperthyroidism?

For better recovery, take care of her diet. Eat well, exercise well and try to sleep well. She has to manage her stress level and calm down whenever she's agitated.

Thanks for the detail reply. Appreciate it.
She passed the 1.5 years timeline already. Now is the 9th year already sad.gif
Yes she is still on carbimazole after all this years.
From 17 tablets a day at peak to 1 tablet now a day.
And yes,she is experiencing all the side effects now as per mentioned.
But it is also from doctors advise that she is still on carbimazole up to now. She is going to her regular doctor check up at sunway medical centre every 3 months.

She takes care alot of her diet and exercise alot too. Just that maybe she can't manage her stress level very well because she tend to think so much. She is also not working so maybe too much time to think.

So I'm exploring any other options besides this. Maybe go to a phychiarist or a sleep doctor?

Goodness, 17 tablets?! That's just... ohmy.gif

Given her condition, didnt the doctor suggest surgery to remove her thyroid?

I'll recommend a psychologist first, before psychiatrist. Psychologists can't prescribe medicine (i think that's the last thing she needs unless the psychologist says otherwise), to help her manage her stress and worry. From there see whether there's any improvement.

Yes,was too ignorant during younger days.didnt take this seriously.

Nope. She change a few doctors already over the years. They did suggest radioactive iodine which will change her condition to hypothyroidism. She didn't take that option though.

Ok.thanks for the recommendation. Will try psychologist first. Thankss

I know what you mean. It didnt seem to be a serious disease in the early stages, just the annoying symptoms.

No problem, all the best.

And 1 more, suggest she tries yoga and learn meditation. While i find it hard to do meditation (so i went for yoga instead), an acquaintance of mine who also has hyperthyroid said meditation did wondrous. It kept her emotions in check and she learnt how to calm down whenever she gets agitated. Try with some Youtube tutorials first.

Just a normal GP but she had successfully treated some patients with hyper thyroid.

I went to Mediviron once, because couldn't follow up in the same clinic. Only wanted to do the TFT. But the doc messed up and seems to know nothing about treating thyroid (he took out his reference book during the consultation session). That worries me a lot and I stopped going there loll

Hi guys, recently been experiencing small neck pains and  heart palpitation problems, drastic hair loss, and mood swings.
Last year I went to BP for check up, the ultrasound actually shows that my neck has a few tumors but hormone levels were normal, but doctor told me not to worry. So after that I didn't went to any check up and just let it be.

Until this year January till present, my heartbeat suddenly increased while I was even laying on bed and resting until I was about to faint, even on and off has chest pain too. I'm suspecting it is all related to my thyroid problems.

Does anybody has any recommendations for endocrinologist in KL?
Need some genuine and good doctor recommendation, because I know that some is really bloodsucking only money minded.
