WoW is not like a free MMO where everyone is noisy and chatty. Ppl in WoW are more demanding when it comes to common courtesy and how you treat other players.

If you're asking for help a lot in the general channel, you might not be so welcomed. Some ppl will help but most people do not bother because they do not want to help i.e. bz with their own quests and they don't want to share quest with others.

It's not too hard in the starting areas up to level 20. After that, it's slightly more difficult but not so much.

Just remember that this isn't like RO or those Free MMOs where it's normal to shout for help all the time. If you do that in WoW, you get told off very harshly and you might carry the n00b label until you're up to lvl70.

I'd suggest u do a bit of time reading on www.wowwiki.com and www.wowhead.com .

You probably won't get someone to help u quest but if u need to know where to look for a mob, usually someone will say something. And it gets more interesting once you start off your first dungeon run. smile.gif

one other thing about guilds. if you're new and currently leveling up, look for a friend "leveling" guild.

because the raiding guilds at lvl70 will probably not help you to level. they might help their guildies (who already have existing lvl70 toons that are their main characters) but they won't usually help with new players who are learning to level and learning about the game. can lead to a lot of frustrations when in a raiding guild.

couple of don'ts

1. ask level 70 to run wc for you
2. money begging
3. spam the LFG channel
4. invite level 70 without asking what purposes

the other aspect of joining a leveling guild is that it's less lonely while leveling. even if they aren't free to help you to level, at least there's someone to keep you company while leveling. it can be very lonely when you first join a realm.

doh! cheeky flush. free gold. i report you better still. tongue.gif

but supposedly oceanic servers have less skilled players than US servers. then again, it's an observation that is spoken by a lot of my guildmates when they transferred over.

sheesh.. i just hate being low lvl.. i've been soloing all along from 1 until 22 now..i found lots of people hanging around stormwind.. but havent found any malaysian though..

Can be difficult but once you broadcast yourself on the general chat, you might think otherwise. Or even telling a friend and the next thing you know, you get hordes of tells. >.< Also, the chat system is regional so it's not easy to look for fellow asians anyway. And yes, a lot of ppl hang out in SW or IF but mostly to go about their business.

off topic: another question.. how do i join a guild? and where to find one? also what is the purpose of guilds??? ive been playing a lot of those free-to-play MMOs but never joined any guild though...can anybody explain.. sorry for such noob question.

Guilds are a group of people who form a team to get things down. It's kinda like a huge association like those Foochow or Hokkien Association. >.> Usually ppl who share a common interest.

Depends on the type of guild that you want to join. Since u're still leveling up, it's usually good to join a levelling guild where there's people who are like you still leveling up. It's easier to find someone to help you level but it's not obligatory for guildmates to help you level, especially those who are in the higher levels.

Once you hit 70, then it's time to decide whether you want to stay in the leveling guild or move on to a raiding guild. Some guilds are a combination of both but it's usually a casual guild who have problems with raid progression.

Ppl will do Guild Recruitments everywhere so up to you where you want to join. Realm Forums are usually for raiding guilds. For leveling guilds, usually recruitment is done via General chat in the major cities or in whichever region they are currently questing, be it in Azeroth or Outlands.
