Hello.

I've owned a Canon IXUS 65 compact camera for about 9 months (which I hardly use), and god knows why, I suddenly bought a Canon 400D for myself tongue.gif

So yeah, my gallery will consist of pictures from my Canon 400D which I just bought today.

I'm totally new to photography, let alone DSLR, so please give face when bashing ok?

Since it's my first entry, I can only post one picture. No time to play with it yet tongue.gif

Anyway, I'll be going to Perhentian Island tomorrow, hopefully I can get back with some DECENT and PRESENTABLE shots!

oh crap. i guess you didn't know how we like to bash people who post lens cap and mugs huh?

c'mon, you just spend on a few k bucks item - just go around snapping better shots before posting here la. smile.gif

look. i bought my 350D a while back and it was more than a month i think, before i started a gallery here and even so my 1st post were with decent pictures already - not lens cap.

lens cap pictures waste time loading, viewing. no skill needed. compacts also can do. smile.gif

Relaxlah guys, as mentioned, he just started photography like me as well. Well since TS mentioned that he will go to perhentian, guess we better make judgement once he posted pics from his trip.

Remember, this is a good chance to practice and take good landscape and scenery shots! smile.gif Not to mention girls in bikinis if u met one. tongue.gif

The sofa looks old and aged, prefer to shoot on a brand new Celini cow leather sofa. My 2 cents.

Hello guys.

I just got back from Perhentian.

Anyway, I'll just upload one photo for now as I'm in the office, no time to upload many.

Will do so when I am home smile.gif

Not really.

I think I was either in AV mode or M mode, don't quite remember. I did not use Auto mode during the whole trip.

Pic no 2 is commendable, although ur angle abit senget otherwise it will be a fantastic pic.

Pic no 3 will be better if u take it as a wide angle shot.

only pic #2 is nice IMO best among the lot BY FAR. too bad it's slightly off cos if it was symmetrical then it'll be great.

#1 decent, lop-sided.
#3 normal
#4 could be better
#5 focus on the bright part, not the dark part.
#6 normal

Interesting composition but like beck said..they look underexposed.

The Sony Ericsson shots seems very dark. I expected the silver to look shinier compared to the black background. Wait..is there even such a word as shinier?

if this was a promo advert shots for a certain company (by the logo on teh side of the car), then its a great shot. but if its a shot of the car itself, should use smaller aperture setting, f2.8 maybe, at least, a big portion of the toy car will see clearly...

in my honoust opinion lah.. i'm newbie as well...

and another thing, ur other pics, like the island, the colors really like not canon usual colors. i think ur camera setting is off a bit...
or i think u r using picture style?

Er, I'm using kit lens, I don't think I can go down to 2.8, the max was 3.5 smile.gif

Erm those pictures went through post-processing, I like my pictures to be of a little contrasting smile.gif Canon 400D colors are washed out so I suppose post-processing is a must smile.gif

Light graffiti! nice! what flash light did you use? btw, did you tweak ur in camera image processor settings? the contrast on some pictures seem to be very high and there's some blooming and black crush. Some pictures are overexposed, they really, literally, hurt my eyes sweat.gif

I used the led light from my phone smile.gif

No, those contrasted pictures were done during post-processing. I guess I prefer darker and more contrasting pictures, personal taste I suppose smile.gif

Thanks for the comment and maybe I'll try a different way next time.
