Hi guys I've a canon 7D that has salt water flush damage (it was not submerged but salt water got into my bag for brief moment)

it won't turn on now and I need recommendations of where can I send it for a cheap repair?

clean, dry it asap, else be like my a6k where my friend borrow it and do not tell me. after a month she told me. sent repair also no use. kira total lost.

did that. waited few days to be dried but i think total lost already because cannot turn on..........

but it was just a little bit of salt water!!! konon canon 7d weather seal

Salt water GG already wor, need to change the mainboard. better buy new camera wor

it's been 1 week. just wondering if there's any other way to repair it cheaply..

try search ISO Hunter on Facebook, can ask him what the cost to repair it. Last time i went there he's fixing 2 Sony, both of them are salt water damage.

salt water is differ than rain water.

salt water react fast to corrode. try go sent shop. if total lost, rip. can get 6d used at 2.4k or around that price.

weather seal on most camera stands no chance against sea water

even if you are using 1DX or D5, sea water can still kill them pretty quick

drying off a salt water damage is wrong.
i made this mistake few years back.
should have pulled out hte battery & card.
rinse the camera inside out with water, then only dry.
will have better chance

if u immediately put to dry and after dried.
the salt will crystalize and mostlikely the circuitry kaput d.
crystalized salt in lens worse summore, u twist the focus ring/zoom will screech and scratch the glass & inside.

i was quoted by Sony more than the camera itself buying new for repair.
end up on the shelf till now as a reminder for me.

take out battery and card
give it an alcohol bath
rinse and dry for few days
try turn it on again

I agreed. 1st time, I dropped my camcorder on wet sand, there wasn't any excessive water, yet the salt water finds it ways into the inert and consumed the ciruit board and the whole cam gone. 2nd time, salt water encounter was my Godox tt600 flash that was in a softbox, dropped into the sea water at the beach. It was entirely wet and it went 'pop'. I thought that thing fried already. Took back home, open it as much as possible, put it under running water for few minutes, then dry with hairdryer and left it for few days. Put together and works till today.

Any amount of water is bad for electronics, the longer salt water sits on the camera, the more chances that it will interact with the components. Professional clean or repair is perhaps your only available routes but for the latter that might cost plenty.

Last time my em5 mark 2 splashed by seawater while crossing a bridge at Timang Beach.
Olympus Malaysia checked and cleaned it for RM 90. After a year still OK.
