HOW TO DISABLE VMS ROAMING (Overseas Voicemail) on DiGi while Roaming Abroad.

If you are roaming with DiGi overseas,
and someone calls you.
Even if you dont pick up.
They will charge you RM4.

Because of OVERSEAS VOICEMAIL - which is enabled by default.

My dad got hit by these charges from telemarketers while roaming. Every day he lost about RM 20. Even WITHOUT PICKING UP THE PHONE. He has never even used voicemail (not even in Malaysia).

DiGi Makes it difficult to change the Overseas Voicemail settings.
They only give you 60 seconds to do it via MCCD codes.

This is unethical.
So I am posting online how to do it. Because they are shit.

Im not based in Malaysia.

My dad has TONS of spare credit that has built up over years - maybe when he finishes it he'll port. But for now no.

Anyway I think you can dial *128*1*9*3*99*8*6#

I know Hotlink last time I use a similar shortcut to quickly enable some settings.

Im not sure if the settings will be the same for all Roaming networks.

This is Digi roaming to Telstra AU.

DiGi roaming to other countries may have different numbers and options.

I assume we can switch it off before we go overseas.

Did not have that problem, but that is pretty sneaky if automatically enabled.

ahh, late to notice this post, i was getting charged near rm50 per months because of this

What a scam! I experienced that last year and took a while to figure it out. I write to CS to complain and got no reply.
I disabled that roaming voicemail with this recent sequence:
