To anyone who has joined any session:-
How effective is boot camp? Were there any noticeable improvement to your general fitness/ well-being.
Is it possible to build muscles through boot camp or does it compliment muscle building?
Any boot camp recommendations?
I did Boot Camp on and off for 2 years and honestly, I did not lose any weight. The more I exercised, the more I wound up eating. Or, as the Sergeant used to say, "You can't out-exercise a bad diet."
After about 3 months of Boot Camp, I was able to complete 10km races, and eventually 21km half-marathons, without any other form of training. So Boot Camp can definitely make you stronger and improve your stamina.
So just manage your own expectations: if you stick with it and don't cheat/cut corners doing the exercises, you'll definitely get stronger and fitter. If you want to lose weight, you'll need to also control your diet in addition to doing Boot Camp. The only time I actually lost weight from Boot Camp was while participating in an 8-week Transformation Challenge, where they provided a simple diet plan to follow in addition to the twice-daily exercise sessions.
If you want to bulk up and build muscle mass, Boot Camp probably won't be enough - you'll need to hit the gym and follow a proper weight-training routine and get on a high-protein diet and/or take some supplements like whey protein, creatine, etc.
Honestly, all the Boot Camps involve High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). You really can't go wrong with any of them; my advice would be to pick one that's in a location convenient for you.
There is a new Boot Camp launching in September that's organized and led by a team of experienced instructors. I would recommend it as the most cost-effective Boot Camp I've encountered (and I've tried Original Boot Camp, Rebel Boot Camp, MetconX, and COBC. Here's their pricing structure:
