As I know, Maxis Total Plan has 3G services, right? However, my Maxis Hotlink sim card was bought a few years and I was using the Talk plan until last month where I changed it to Total Plan. From the Maxis website, it mentioned that all existing users who are registered can switch to Total Plan so does this apply for my case if I wanted to use 3G services without upgrading my sim card. I hope I'm not confusing anyone here. rclxub.gif

Do let me know how it goes as I have a 3G hp right now but my sim card is the old Hotlink sim card but changed to the current Total Plan now. Please advice. Thanks! notworthy.gif

It will automatically detect my hp and send the necessary settings to me? If yes, that's cool. rclxms.gif

Maxis introduced too many plans for Hotlink users until I also blur blur liao. rclxub.gif

Thanks for understanding my situation, yalor, so many plans just for prepaid users, it's hard to catch up since there are 101 services offered by Maxis that I never used before. Sigh ...... just give me cheaper calling rates will do lah. doh.gif

Yeah, it is. It's better to get a prepaid sim card in Australia if they allow foreigners to buy one. smile.gif

But having too many plans will confuse new users. Even myself got confused too, talk plan, sms plan, easy plan, total plan, student plan, retirement plan (just kidding). rclxub.gif

The sim cards are dirt cheap these days, last time I paid RM300 for my first Hotlink simcard because of the nice number and out of stock thingy. Gosh, it's only a few ringgit for a sim card, even cheaper than Starbucks. doh.gif

QUOTE(David83 @ Dec 3 2006, 06:41 PM)
It's under Easy Plan. In order to have Easy plan, you need to purchase a new SIM pack (new number) for the mean time.

Yeah, I was among the first to own a Hotlink sim card, at least my number ends with triple 888 at the back. The shop told me that it is a VIP number, okaylah, for RM300, if it is a good number also, I think they will sell a few hundred too no matter it is for Easy or Total plan sim cards, right? Hai ..... these shops are really too much. vmad.gif mad.gif vmad.gif

Anyway, Maxis is nuts to sell a sim card for a few bucks, if they're selling a reload coupon for a few bucks with 30 days validity period than they baru thumbup.gif

Of all numbers, they chose 014 rclxub.gif Not so good lah, 018 sounds thumbup.gif , all the 8s = fatt to the Chinese, more 'hou yee tau' mah. Hai ...... Maxis never do survey one meh. doh.gif

QUOTE(ardhawk @ Dec 19 2006, 01:56 AM)

By Mobicom mah, right? Can choose 008 - XXX or 007 - XXX (Casino Royale numbers). Hahaha. Like that Maxis also dunno. Choose 014 - XXX pulak, no wonder no Chinese wanna buy, they rather buy 017- XXX. Hahaha. All the 014 - XXX simpacks stucked lor, mostly sold to foreign workers here especially the Indons, they don't what's the meaning of 014 - XXX in Cantonese. sweat.gif Thanks God, otherwise the shops will have trouble selling such simpacks.

QUOTE(David83 @ Dec 21 2006, 08:20 PM)
018 prefix was preowned before. So, they have no choice.

Yeah, it's time to stock up some 017 sim packs now and auction them in eBay after 12 months later. We'll be rich. rclxm9.gif Just joking. notworthy.gif

QUOTE(David83 @ Dec 21 2006, 08:26 PM)
Sooner or later, you won't be have much choices as Maxis is reserving some of the 017 numbers for Maxis BB via 3G HSDPA.

That sim card is to be used on those Maxis 3G broadband modems, right? Can't call out but for surfing only. Till now, I have yet to see any of my friends registering the package, maybe it's still pricey and doesn't have a 1 meg line option yet. Streamxy RM77 package is still attractive despite the lousy line speed quality. doh.gif

QUOTE(David83 @ Dec 21 2006, 08:43 PM)
I'm not so sure about neither ... my guess will be it's like another compression/coding technique as WCDMA. Sorry ...

The modem is freaking expensive and to rent it monthly sounds crazy, they should give it free instead. rclxub.gif

QUOTE(David83 @ Dec 21 2006, 08:47 PM)
In order to use Maxis BB via 3G, you need to equip the modem with a SIM card. The SIM card is using 017 prefix. I think the same concept is used for Maxis 3G (with data card).

When did you register your line? Normally, the Hotlink gift is activated once they have received your registration a few months back (at least 3 months plus). It takes a long time but I registered around 9 months before the deadline and I have started receiving those Hotlink gift messages after 3 months plus. If after 3 months and still nothing, then go personally to the Maxis centre and satay them. Calling them is not effective, try going there personally and give them a piece of your mind.

Any tips that we can increase our chance to get Hotlink Gift Message? My number use 2 years already once also never receive before.

I noticed lately that most handphone shops are hanging the DiGi banner, only a few shops have the Hotlink banner. The drop in popularity, is it because of Maxis being taken over? Even Tower Records staffs are wearing a shirt with DiGi logo. Sigh ....... doh.gif
