guys any recommendation on decent laptop for programming and can support current games?

1. Budget : 3-3.5k (possible???)
2. Usage : Mainly work (programming), occasional gaming
3. Requirements (display size, battery life, weight etc) : International warranty within ASEAN, 15.6" display max

Pros: Decent build quality+cooling, decent input devices, decent audio quality, optional 144Hz, OK battery life (with Hybrid mode on), MUX (can turn on/off Optimus, if off you'll get max GPU performance), onsite warranty

Cons: Red accents, heatsink quality can be hit or miss, new BIOS slightly reduces fan speed (though not a big issue from what I see)

No preference on weight and battery life?

Y740 has more premium+slightly sturdier build, but keyboard layout+typing feel are worse. Has per key RGB. Slightly better cooling compared to Y7000 SE despite slightly thinner. Newer BIOS reduced 90W GPU TDP to standard 80W and slightly reduced fan speed

For Y7000 SE, see above

Prefer regular laptop or gaming laptop?

If you want something robust, might want to consider business grade laptops

15% student discount. Though sometimes you can get more discount with promo codes (20% LENXCIMB - need CIMB card). Not sure about Illegear and Level51 but I think Level51 got RM1000 rebate

nope no preference..won't need to carry around..mostly use at home..battery life is not the main deciding factor

HP generic line - not recommended

FYI Comet Lake isn't much different compared to Kaby Lake Refresh (eg 10210U vs 8250U)

Also decent, but definitely no international support. Yes customize from website

yes just confirmed with them..level51 got support..forge 15 can consider? any recommended/necessary customization? or just basic will be enough?

Level51 onsite also need courier send back, though they support warranty in SG (through Aftershock)

Which config you're looking at?

*
i have confirmed with them..normal carry in warranty already can walk into their SG branch to claim warranty..and this applies both ways..i am looking at forge 15 base spec (i5, gtx 1050 3gb)..should i upgrade to gtx 1650 4gb instead?

it is weird that in their fineprint mention the gtx 1650 option is only available when selecting i7 but i still can select i5 and gtx 1650 and send to shopping cart..

i heard tat forge 15 and raven se are the same laptop..so does this mean that forge 15 is also a decent choice?

that one is carry in, not onsite - I thought you're referring to onsite?

definitely upgrade to 1650, 1050 is old card and noticeably less powerful

need i7 for 1650 config

They are not the same. Both are decent choices
*
oh sorry i didnt specify clearly..i meant to say tat i am looking for laptops whose brand/manufacturer/supplier has service centers in SG and still accept carry in for laptops purchased in msia, apart from onsite warranty..

i think legion laptops have it but not sure if it also applies to laptops purchased through resellers (not lenovo own store)..normally resellers state "local manufacturer warranty" in the description..

need to pair 1650 with i7? hmm strange because for raven se nothing is stated in customization page and during checkout as well..does this mean they allow i5 with 1650 configuration?
