Generally on the go. Don't want to bring files from home to office, vice versa etc. Not sure if that is a valid reason haha.  sweat.gif

I'm good with any weight. Live with it for me haha. I will be plugged in most of the time.

New Laptop Needed. Work & Play.

1. Budget: RM12000 - RM17000
2. Usage: (In order of priority) After Effects, Da Vinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, Path of Exile, OW, Valorant, CODMW, Anno 1880, and some double-A to triple-A titles.
3. Requirements (display size, battery life, weight, etc): Thunderbolt 3 (if possible), 17"

Can't tell if AMD 4000 series with weaker GPU or Intel 10th Gen with stronger GPU better for my usage.

Honestly for such high budget I also dk which one to recommend, lol. If you want to buy now, can consider Illegear Selenite G / Pro

Hi all,

Appreciate if can recommend new laptop that is light and cheap.

1. Budget: RM3,000 - RM4,000
2. Usage: MS Office, Light gaming, IE for stock trading
3. Requirements (display size, battery life, weight, etc): less than 1.4kg

Currently looking at Dell Inspiron 13 5000 but want to know if there are better choices ...

thanks

Hahaha alright. Thanks! Just wanted to get some outside opinion because been struggling with it. Company will subsidise a little so that's why the budget is higher. But if I took your advice on a desktop+laptop setup. Which laptop would you have recommended? smile.gif

If I were to go with this option, how would I go about getting it? I know Razer's Asia Pacific store doesn't carry it.

This maybe a more flexible option in terms of warranty/support/availability...The new Thinkpad P17... a draw back would be the weight: 3.5kg:

It's not a looker though....

Preferred display size? Mind low sRGB display and non-upgradeable RAM?

Was going to suggest this but considering the P73 don't have good thermals...hopefully this one has decent thermals

Dear sifus,

Need your help in choosing the right laptop for my sister.

For her degree study usage (education course)

Budget: RM3.5k

Since she's not into hardcore gaming probably going with the light weight (compulsary) and long battery life (optional)

Suitable one for education and entertainment purposes (doing editing, streaming, video calling etc)

Shortlisted candidates:

1. HP 14 CE3047TX (i7-1065G7,8gb RAM, 512gb SSD, NVIDIA mx250)
2. Dell Vostro V5490 (i7-10510U,8gb RAM, 512gb SSD, NVIDIA mx250)

or got any other suggestion pls do tell

pls advise

thanks all

No need to get dGPU. Consider Thinkpad L14 customize (apply code LENXCIMB). If don't like the look, maybe something like Acer Swift 3 SF314-57-50TR / 5549 / 57E3

But I got BAD experiences with Acer and Lenovo. Must I choose them? Am not really up to date with latest specs and brand nowadays coz my last purchase was 5 years ago.

My preference not good is it?

Shortlisted candidates:

1. HP 14 CE3047TX (i7-1065G7,8gb RAM, 512gb SSD, NVIDIA mx250)
2. Dell Vostro V5490 (i7-10510U,8gb RAM, 512gb SSD, NVIDIA mx250)

These two I meant
