1. Budget : Below RM4000

2. Usage : Word/Excel, Accounts (Quicken), Media playback (Movies/TV Shows), Internet Browsing

3. Requirements (display size, battery life, weight etc) :

i) Display : 15.6" Widescreen preferred
ii) Battery life: As high as possible within the budget
iii) Ram : 8GB (or 4GB + upgrade to 8GB)
iv) Storage : SSD + HDD
v) Weight : N/A; more for home use, but portable when necessary
vi) Processor: No preference
vii) Others: Need to have a DVD burner or budget extra for an external DVD burner
Main consideration is durability / long life-span.  Currently using a 10-year old BenQ

Silly question, is there any Thinkpad stores in Penang?
Both mainland and island.

Define 'good display' - high sRGB?
Min how many hours of battery life? Max weight in kg/lbs?
No preference on display size?
Mind non-upgradeable RAM?

I have reviewed the S540 so you can check it out. Ryzen 7 only better in iGPU

Buy online

Good display means nice contrast with good colours, no wash out colours with poor viewing angles. I know hard to get amazing colour accuracy at this price.
Batt should last 6hrs or more.
Weight less than 2kg.
Screen 14inch or less.
Ram 8gb, ability to upgrade is nice.

Will check out your review, thank you.

Hi sifus
1. Budget : Around 2.5k
2. Usage : School work (docs, ppt, excel), light gaming (dota, csgo)
3. Requirements (display size, battery life, weight etc) :
Display size : 13-14" not looking for big gaming laptop
Battery life : 5 hrs (non gaming tasks)
Weight : around 2kg
Display : anything ips

Personal preference (used to lenovo clicky keyboard, but others are fine)

Ram upgrade doesnt really matter if got at least 8gb
Storage dont need m.2 also can as long as sata ssd

Quite interested in envy x360 with the stylus for taking notes but not priority, might up to 3k budget if got good deal for touch screen and my requirements
