QUOTE(moonsatelite @ Jun 6 2019, 08:53 PM) Where did you get that incredible bargain? It's used anyway but in great condition. Maybe because it's Japan set. Found it on Carousell. You have to browse Carousell every single time, that's what I did. The seller just posted it few minutes, I managed to grab it haha.

I own a Kindle 2019 with 167 ppi. Now that it's come with backlight, I would say it's comparable to the paperwhite. And I prefer it's screen over the paperwhite which is flat.

I’ve got a Kindle Fire to let go if you want to starter e-Book. I’ve changed to a Paper White. Me think Kindles are the next best thing after sliced bread

I used to recommend an iPad mini for reading e books. But after looking at some e readers the screen is just not comparable to an IPS LCD screen, e readers have literally ink-like display. Super comfortable

I'd say go for the latest version of the Kindle. It comes with built-in front lighting, which used to be the main selling point of the Kindle Paperwhite.
The display isn't as crisp as the Paperwhite, but it's good enough in my opinion. I haven't once looked at my Kindle's display and wished that it was sharper!

QUOTE(xenith @ Nov 2 2019, 09:23 AM) How about Amazon tablet ? I have never used one, so it wouldn't be fair for me to comment. I don't see any reason to purchase an Amazon Fire tablet over any other tablet in the market. I personally prefer using eInk driven ebook readers for reading purposes, and iPads for everything else.

for reading ebook with its eink is superior. comfortable and natural. but you need to convert your book format if it is not in the right format. meanwhile a normal tablet is generally supporting more formats, faster, and able to do more. but you sacrifice the comfort of reading e-ink in exchange to a glare screen. for younger people in their 20s and below, and with good eyesight, this is generally not a problem. but if you eyesight is having issue, e-ink is definitely way more superior than a normal tablet.
so i will say which one is best for you, depends on your financial capabilities and eyesight. though nowadays the cheapest kindle is less than RM400 only so unless one is has very low pay, the cost is generally not a big issue.

if you read lots of books with no pictures, then kindle basic or paperwhite is for you. otherwise, if you usually reads magazines and comics or mangas, then get a tablet. I have both the kindle paperwhite and kindle fire. Initially wanted to sell off the kindle fire but ended up loving it cos recently was very much into reading webtoons. Kindly paperwhite is good for those who reads long period of time as it doesn't tire the eyes.

my old iPad Pro still serves me well. but I use it to read comics and manga mostly. If you often read after long tiring day and always have device falling on face like me ( ),better buy those digital reader instead, get the one with lighter weight.

E book prices have risen a lot since pricing has reverted to being set by publishers.

QUOTE(moonsatelite @ Jun 6 2019, 08:00 PM) Hello lads and ladies, I am interested in getting a Kindle to start the journey of reading e-books. You guys think I should start off with the basic kindle that costs around RM 380++ or go straight to the Kindle Paperwhite which I found it to be around RM 570++ The storage size doesn't matter to me but what matters is that the basic Kindle is only 167 ppi (Pixels per Inch), whereas the Paperwhite is 300 ppi. I kinda have an issue of physical books where I can stick to reading it but I can spend more time on a tablet, technology ruined me. Also, I am interested in the Kindle is because of the e-ink display that works under sunlight. Any e-book readers here? Please share your thoughts. Trolls stay out, I'll just delete all of your posts on my thread. Have the same conundrum.. But the latest colored e-ink technology will be commercial by next year. Just settle for moon reader pro on my android devices at moment
