Cheaper yet so "good". I hv got a bad experience on gov clinics, why? Because half a year ago, my mom went to one of those gov clinic, and the dentist give her some filling(2 or 3 tooth i think), after 2 weeks guess what happened? The fillings dropped off. I don't mean that every gov clinic is like that, maybe some of them yes.

i have to wait till Air Asia starts flying to India soon! sweat.gif sweat.gif

Anyway I've found one in Taman Melawati -quite popular among the local here Klinik Pergigian Normah. Went for treatment few times already. She's very gentle -so no worries. Fee considered OK -not expensive. Just behind Giant Taman Melawati.

What filling did the dentist did to your mom?
Is the metal or tooth colored filling or temporary filling (whitish looking - not tooth colored)

Depends on the dentist.
Some private dentist are good. Some aren't.
I'm going to be a dentist in about 3 years, let see how good/bad I'll be smile.gif

For a good result, come to us (UM dental student @ UM faculty of Dentistry of course)
Everything we do is supervised by experienced lecturers & professors.
Some private dentist skips some steps they think unnecessary or waste of time, but we students need to be "skema" or risk getting spanked tongue.gif

My experience, cleaning average RM60 - RM100. Some clinic charge cheaper but very rough job, some little expensive but good clean job.

Check up usually free one, but they will find you some problem to be fix.

I have a cousin doing his braces at Damansara Utama, it is PJ orthodotics. However, my dentist in PJ new town "WhiteZone Dental" also got orthodontist but not all the time there. Maybe you can call either one of them to consult first.

Hi smarttie,
I have found the website to your dentist. http://whitezonedental.com/ourservice.html
Address: No.8, 1st Floor, Jalan Sultan (52/4), New Town Center, 46200 Petaling Jaya. Tel: 03-7956 9682

But how much did you spent for the surgery? And how long does the surgery takes?

wisdom tooth is expensive. depending on where you are going. for a good dentist it will range from rm500+ i dunno about the cheaper dentists though. and then you gotta add up the medicine and all that. xray and stuff. quite pricey. probably end up around rm650-750. im sure there are cheaper places

Let me recall..... hmm.. I think was around RM 600 ++ with x-ray, medication, and it took about one hour ++ to finish the procedure. By that time, my jaw was a bit tired instead of pain yawn.gif

if u want to do wisdom tooth extraction, i recommend u better go for government specialist...they do it on daily basis &..plus cheaper only RM55...the same surgery that will cost u 500++ in private..plus the tools and equipment in Hospital setting is more complete than common dental clinic

Private specialists do it on a daily basis too.... tools and equipment in private is definately complete and advance... why would you think otherwise?

pro for government is it's cheap...

pro for private is the care you get...

cons... takda..... smile.gif

both will get the job done... just which do you prefer.... it's just like getting a car.... a cheap car can also get you from point A to point B....

i went to a Doktotr Pergigian Sri Setapak who is cheaper..now very afraid as I do tampal gigi. It is cheap only RM50 but I am afraid actually the way he do is not relaible and cause me some tooth problem in the future

Thanks so much anne68. I saw the smileworks dental clinic today as I drove by (oasis ara damansara right?). It is quite close by to my home really. Plan to visit tomorrow smile.gif . Anyone got good recommendations for this dental clinic?

Hi all
I just made a visit to Smileworks at Oasis Ara Damansara to fix my chipped tooth and a couple of fillings.
My overall experience was very good: parking was very easy, staff were helpful and the clinic environment was superb. Dr Nor Ikhwan mentioned the clinic was still new and I loved the airy feeling and the spaciousness. He even fixed my chipped tooth for free as it was a minor job.

Anyone looking for a good dentist in Ara Damansara area? I'd definitely recommend Smileworks Dental Clinic 03-7832 5552.

I dunno know about good dentist, but i do know one "菜头" dentist. Its at Jalan Ipoh (opp Maples condo). Its called www.mydentist.com.my and if it is your first visit, they would insist on taking an x-ray (RM150++) first, even if you are just going for a normal polishing... mad.gif

If you are nearby or in PJ, can try the one above Poh Kong jewellery shop at SS2, Dr Wong.

I did my crowning there.

The Dr very PRO & gentle. Charges is very reasonable too.

If you're near Bandar Baru Bangi, you can visit Klinik Pergigian Halizah just besides Warta Shopping Complex (Giant). Clinic number is 03-82100970.

Just now while checking my tooth i felt something sharp i pushed it abit and flakes came out. It's the tooth top most behind and i don't know if it's the last tooth or wisdom tooth. Now i felt it lost almost half coz now feel very sharp. Last week 1 time i notice got sand like feeling.

Now I need good recommendation on good professional Dentist around Klang Valley or KL also can.

As long as good service & professional & skillful & reasonable fees & not Surgery Happy/X ray happy only want to make money.

Male/Female also no problem.

Kindly leave their contact & if you can their opening hours & rough cost for treating 1 tooth.

Thanks really appreciate it.

Haven't been to dentist since the ones provided in schools. Recently the filling that was there so many years ago fell out.

Now have to face one of my worse fears.

Can anyone advice on choosing recommended private clinics vs government ones?

How much extra do I pay for private ones? Roughly how much is it for the different types of services(filling etc)? (need to prepare enough money for payment)

Does both private and government ones require appointment to be made prior to the visit?

Just go to Choo Dental Clinic. Professional, no-nonsense, and many years of experience. May be more price than the usual, but still within the affordable, non-luxury range.
