actually people never handpaint clear paint/coat...people either ab it or straight buy topcoat...
clear paint also been use for those wet effect on diorama...this effect people only do it with handpaint...then only can get those nice wet effect on the surface... i dont think its a good idea to handpaint clear paint for coating purposes you might end up ruin your whole kit. and like fyire said you might also strip off the paint underneath when you handpaint...and not to mention the decal also. |

^ true...fully painted if you want to look exactly like the one on the box...not only that...but also to cover all the seam lines.
well....if you can go with the plastic feel of your kit...then its ok not to paint at all...even with flat topcoat without any paint...it still feel toyish plastic |

QUOTE(ShinAsakura @ Oct 29 2007, 08:25 PM) spray cans can be useful when u're in a tight budget (if u duwan to resort to dry-brushing) but somehow my strike freedom's gold color dulling d... QUOTE(z3r0717 @ Oct 29 2007, 09:42 PM) yea man... i was told too tat the gold will fade too, vinc454 told me to topcoat it so the gold will stay longer. QUOTE(ShinAsakura @ Oct 29 2007, 09:58 PM) i topcoated it... still...sigh... actually got use or no use of topcoat oso same la, jz da fading time difference i think. true that gold easily to fade over time...even my bb musha start to dull already now...and that also been topcoat.it's best if u put ur gundam in an enclosed case like glass cabinet or any place w/out much air/water/humidity contact. since my strike freedom's faded gold were at the place tat are open, while the other gold which were armored doesn't fade yet. gold is a mafan color! not only its hard to get real yellowish gold color...but also hard to keep it from dulling overtime! it still can dull even if you put it anywhere... |

before u suggest enamel...you better know what he wants...and also what kit he s talking about
giving guidance not just simply talk without knowing what are you talking about... sd stargazer gold line there are not those normal thin line...the line are quite wide...not that u can simply drop enamel paint in there and the paint will flow inside it... using the marker are good enough...but if you wanna try handbrush...then why not try metallic red or normal bright red...the red totally depends on you since its your idea... |

he said wrap in plastic bag...where got ppl do that as a dulling solution seriously own paint gold or metallic colors will become dull overtime...no matter what type of topcoat u use...even my bb also dull already now the gold parts...but somehow my freedom gold still ok...guess time will tell how long it going to still shinning. |

like i repeat so many times before...
it is NOT recommended to spray you kit while they still on the runner... its easy job yes...but not only you waste your time do two times job but also you waste paint/spray cans...and hobby paints are not cheap here locally spray on the runner means you leaving those cutting part expose and unpaint and means you need to repaint them again after you cut them off...sometimes you will risk got uneven color on that parts... the best thing to do is to cut all them out first or assemble them first then only paint or spray them... and you didnt just lay them on the floor when you wanna spray it...of course it all will fly away...as spray cans pressure are very strong clip them all up then only spray them...hold them all up if you want a good finish, a good painting, a good spraying, a good kit that you can proud of after you finish with it...then put some effort on it... troublesome or mafan or hard or this and that is just an excuse...and might as well just straight build them instead of even think to paint them and end up a lousy finish job remember paint, tools, and the kits itself are not cheap here in bolehland...so wanna paint...put some effort on it |
