Can. Just coat it with others paint first before you spray on it. I try it before and chrome my plastic kits. Damn shine.

Guys, may I know where to get the cheapest mr.color paint in KL/PJ?
For tamiya, big bottle is rm15, mini is rm9.90. Not sure about mr.color and gunze. |

QUOTE(fyire @ Feb 8 2008, 01:08 PM) The trick to getting a smooth surface using acrylics is to prevent the paint from drying too fast. Your thinning ratio needs to be just right so that the paint does not run too much, but still allows for the brush marks to smooth itself over before drying. Well, my solution is simple. Just air brush it. Smooth and nice. For modeling kits, it is better invest a compressor + AB. |

QUOTE(zheyuen @ Feb 9 2008, 03:28 PM) Well, you have few choice. Use air pressure can like boltguard do, inflate tyre where you can refill with bicycle pump, bigger fish tank pump where it won't generate pulse and using your mouth to blow. Added on February 9, 2008, 10:41 pm QUOTE(noob4life @ Feb 9 2008, 06:30 PM) Everything translates to $$$ ... if u dont spend $$$, you can never get it easy. If only cost rm400, go and get it. No need to think. A good silent 24/7 compressor, at least cost rm1000 over.I heard the guy over at Game Mate ( prangin mall, penang ) sells modded compressors that are silent and can turn on 24/7 ? Any idea guys ? And i heard its very cheap too... like RM 400 i think. This post has been edited by ozak: Feb 9 2008, 10:41 PM |

QUOTE(boltguard @ Feb 10 2008, 11:23 PM) This is my theory DIY project for you. Buy few fish tank pump (at least two), joint all the outlet hose to one hose and connect to your airbrush. It should give you sufficient pressure and no pulse air.Ps. Don't blame me huh if not work. Added on February 11, 2008, 10:57 am QUOTE(kltower4 @ Feb 11 2008, 10:05 AM) Inside KLCC, toycity ada. Tamiya paint but limited choice. I have diffult find the color I want aspecially tamiya paint. I try buy online and one shoot buy 10-20bottle. It is cheaper than local. The only problem is, you got to wait. This post has been edited by ozak: Feb 11 2008, 10:57 AM |

QUOTE(noob4life @ Feb 11 2008, 09:28 PM) Yea well u gotta consider whether it really LASTS or not.... even though he say got warranty, he mod himself doesnt that translate to void warranty ? I don't think he mod himself. He create it himself. That's why he can give warranty. Sure it can last long. Even I can warranty you 2-3yrs. Cause I have one similiar design and it last for 18yrs. I m still using it now. |

QUOTE(zheyuen @ Feb 11 2008, 11:11 PM) damn...whn i tot i can get an airbrush but not a compressor...XD. You need a compressor to pump the air for air brushing. Just buy a airbrush, you still cannot use it if you don't have a compressor. So airbrush and compressor should be in one set.but compressor got wad use...like my previous post...i ask again...XD. |

QUOTE(chriswoo @ Feb 12 2008, 01:31 AM) looks like ShinAsakura pin point all the dannychoo answer it all. Personally me also saving few month just to invest for good compressor + Hand piece so now i grateful for buying good compressor instate of cheap can or self made compressor. As for self made compressor i already can confirm it can use only 15 min times then u must shut it down then wait to it cool for 20 to 30 minute or else you end up spolid the whole compressor. Another advantage is,So I give some you all idea advantage and disadvantage about between Compressor with tank + trap and compressor with tank and compressor without tank or self-made (custom) compressor. for reference term (Hand Piece also known as Air brush gun) Compressor with tank + trap moist advantage: 1) No need worries overheating because auto off when reach certain pressure + also electric saving. 2) More safe and stable output pressure for hand piece. 3) Able to use it for whole day without any hassle. 4) Able to use more efficiently (in term of time, quality and money wise for long term) due to because of it can use anytime in whole day make it more smooth for your coloring. 5) Able to safe guaranty when praying paint won't split out water drop and pressure control. 6) Save coloring and able to do more good result. hope my informantion is usefull for those who wish to buy Air brush set. 1) it is very silent and can work with your model kits for 24hr. 2) Won't generate air pulse because the tank regulate the air. 3) Use less electricity. It will stop when the air pressure achieve. This post has been edited by ozak: Feb 12 2008, 08:26 AM |

QUOTE(VincC454 @ Feb 12 2008, 10:05 AM) i got this issue also You have to drain the moisture trap more frequently. If your compressor have a tank, open the nut and drain out the water. Another solution is get a bigger moisture trap or a second moisture trap.cause because the compressor are too hot already.... 1. off your compressor and let it rest for a while...(15mins) 2. using a long springy hose tube also sometimes helps... A complete free moisture solution is, set a few filter on the line. (Later will post the picture to explain) |

Here is the complete solution to trap the water. Abit too many filter. he..... With this setup, I can work at model kits 24hr without worry about water spit out.
![]() 1) is the first filter with regulator. It will auto release the water when full. The regulator is set to max air flow. 2) also a water filter but bigger and trap water more effeciently. 3) is to clean the air from oil, dust and etc. has a very find filter. 4) on/off valve ![]() This is a small regulator to control the air flow after the (4) on/off valve. After the regulator, the hose go direct to airbrush. I place the compressor inside storeroom and a long hose to the regulator. |

QUOTE(jim18992 @ Feb 14 2008, 10:18 AM) Yes, there is a cheaper way, is to handpaint. Anyway, from what I read here, Mr Surfacer in a bottle cannot be applied using hand brush as primer. So how do ppl like me living in Kuching, Sarawak that is near imposible for me to find the spray can version of mr surfacer plus I remember there a law which state it illegal to post spray can stuff through poslaju do? Thx for all the upcoming reply from all the Sifu here. There is no near impossible to get those kits and tool. You can always buy online and send till your doorstep. Those can spray, paint and thinner is no problem through poslaju. The only problem is the seller country rule. I have order few tamiya can spray primer from HLJ last year. |

QUOTE(jim18992 @ Feb 14 2008, 01:20 PM) I see, but frm what I heard frm few famous gundam stuff related seller here, it a risk sending spray can stuff through poslaju cause it illegal, anyone done it before here? If it really not illegal, that I can finally try hand painting my gunpla. You don't need to care is poslaju can send or not. What you need to know is the seller can send or not. Most of the US and some japan online seller cannot send. But I m suprise that HLJ can send. I even order paint from HK and some thinner from others japan website. |

QUOTE(jim18992 @ Feb 14 2008, 04:38 PM) Ya, I know paint and thinner will not have problem to be sent over by postage, the problem is frm those spray can paint, but maybe I should ask one person to send one mr surfacer spray can from West Malaysia to test, hehehe. You didn't read my first post before the last one. I ve experience order the tamiya spray can primer (same as mr.surfacer spray can) from HLJ. |
