If you don't have enough experience, certs and grades kinda matter. It's also used often to filter what companies think are "better" candidates from the normal ones for entry-level/junior positions where years of experience is not a priority.
In most cases, HR are the ones that want to see them. It's part of the SOP to vet candidates. The truth is most hiring managers don't really care that much about grades for mid level positions and above.
