Hi guys, need some help here regarding RAM becuz i dont know much about computer

1st of all my mobo is REALLY outdated kind, Gigabyte-8IPE775 series with Intel 865PE chipset that only support AGP 8X card. I'm using P4 2.80Ghz with ATI X1300 and only 512 mb of ram so i decide to upgrade my ram but i dont know what type of RAM can my mobo support.

It says like this on the mobo manual
- 4 184-pin DDR DIMM sockets
- Supports Dual channel DDR400/DDR333/DDR266 DIMM
- Supports 128/MB/256MB/512MB/1GB unbuffered DRAM
- Supports up to 4GB DRAM (MAX)

So my question is are these RAM compatible with my MOBO? And is it advisable to upgrade to 2GB of RAM for better performance?
Kingston PC-3200 DDR-400
Corsair PC-3200 DDR-400

Btw can someone explain some phrases that i've bolded

Thanks alot

You can upgrade your RAM as long as your motherboard supports. Any normal DD266/DDR333/DDR400 RAM would do. icon_rolleyes.gif

got difference ma pci-e with pci?

huge differene in terms of slot position and speed

PCI rated 4x, while PCI-e rated either 8x or 16x

PCI can put soundcard, LAN card while PCI-e can put graphics card.

Try search your motherboard model and google for specification.

If you decide to change motherboard, i'm not so sure either need to install windows again. try google for it. smile.gif
