QUOTE(iJoel @ Oct 20 2007, 04:23 PM) hi, any idea on how to check out what type of HD is suitable for my PC ? I'm currently using Maxtor 6E040L0 and i think its a PATA drive, would it be possible for me to change into a SATA drive ? i dunno whether my MOBO suits or not so i seek for thanks in advance open ur pc casing, just check the connectors on the mobo.. if it is small one, then it would be sata.. if its long, then it is ide/pata/ata.. if u want to change to sata hdd while ur connector is ide/pata/ata, just buy the converter.. around rm30 if im not mistaken.. QUOTE(iJoel @ Oct 20 2007, 04:31 PM) sorry but what type of connectors ? hdd have 2 cable.. power cable n data cable.. power cable connects the hdd to psu while data cable connect ur hdd to ur mobo.. connectors is the one connecting the cable n the hdd o the mobo to the cable.. look at the cable that link from hdd to the mobo, n compare it with cdrom/floppy drive connectors at the mobo.. if it is smaller, then it is sata connectors.. err... got it?

QUOTE(iJoel @ Oct 20 2007, 04:31 PM) sorry but what type of connectors ? nvmla.. just tell u straight away.. ur hdd is ide/pata/ata, so it is more likely that ur connectors at the mobo is ide type.. if u want to upgrade to sata, u should buy the converter 1st as waif recommended but it will be external drive la since it connects to usb.. QUOTE(iJoel @ Oct 20 2007, 05:10 PM) confirmed ! its a pata so that means i would need a converter for sata drives right ? yup.. but if u looking for hdd as second hdd, i would say, just stick with ide/ata/pata.. easy 2 find, cheaper, available in small capacity..

QUOTE(kalakatu @ Nov 1 2007, 12:41 PM) not really noticeable IMHO so its best to just keep the 4gb ram in system? This post has been edited by mono_demon: Nov 1 2007, 05:02 PM
