akira... Done further testing...TLDR, get a different airmouse.

*The Power, Menu & Task Manager buttons don't function either.
*Back button doesn't work unless in airmouse mode. This being a frequently used button.. I eventually had to ditch the Minix Neo A2 Lite Airmouse in favor of the included remote and a Logitech Keyboard + Mouse combo.
*Media related buttons and keyboard on the other side all work.
*
Thank you for the info. I believe I have to but remote as well.

Hi OP, is this a tvbox you would highly recommend over the other tvbox?
I have no specific demand for specs, but of course I hate lag.
Problem is, there are WAY too many tvbox out there... I really don't know how to pick one... Budget wise can be adjusted but to get the best in overall is tough for me...

Yup.. It's a box I recommended.. Especially over most in its price range as you get more bang for your buck. Getting a different remote/airmouse is a must though.

Thanks for the heads-up. Have been hearing the air mouse has issue.

If given a choice of Xiaomi tvbox s and beelink gt king, which one will be the outstanding one? Though Beelink's price is doubled.

Only get the MiBox IF your TV doesn't ship with a Netflix app and you require a certified Netflix experience (FHD++).IMO.. That's the primary reason to get it.. It's Google and Netflix certified.. Else? Definitely get the GT-King instead as it's far powerful and better specced in every other way.. Plus if you fancy Android TV OS? There's a stable custom ROM of that. Can choose others and or return to stock ROM later if you want.. Options are good.

The GT King series now supports a dual system plan. Both the Regular and the Pro versions now support dual-booting Android & CoreELEC. CoreELEC for the uninitiated is a ‘Just enough OS’ Linux distribution based on Kodi technology for popular AMLogic hardware. There's a stable (Latest version being CoreELEC 9.2.0) and nightly versions. Beelink in the past reached out the the CoreELEC dev team and have been working in-depth behind the scenes for compatibility. The time is here and the GT-King series are officially supported by the CoreELEC dev team. Promises have been made to have more Beelink products adapted to this dual-booting system. I'll update as time goes on, which devices become supported.

CoreELEC Pre-Installed
In order to thank users for their support for our products..An 8GB SD/TF card with CoreELEC system pre-installed will ship with future sold units of the GT-King series... So one only has to insert the SD/TF card in our GT-King series products. The CoreELEC system can be used immediately with minimal fuss. Take note, I'm unsure how long this free and pre-installed SD/TF card deal will continue. So interested parties should grab it while they can.

Switch freely between OSes
Being a dual-booting system, it's important to note that switching between both OSes is made even simpler. This is to aid users to switch freely between the Android AOSP system and the CoreELEC system. Just press and hold the power off button of the remote control, and the System switch option will appear as shown in the figure below. Select this option and confirm, the machine will restart into the CoreELEC system located in the SD/TF card.

Attached Image

As time goes one, we will endeavor to adapt this feature to more devices. If there's a model you'd like to see such on, you can also contact us. We will try to contact the corresponding developers to adapt it for the products.

How to use the dual OS system.
Booting into CoreELEC
Create yours or insert the supplied SD/TF card into the card slot, connect the power and turn on the machine. The CoreELEC system will boot up automatically. From this, we can deduce that as long as the SD/TF card is inserted, the first/default boot option is CoreELEC.

Stock Android to CoreELEC
So you are already booted into Android and would like to switch to CoreELEC. Just insert the pre-loaded card.. Press and hold the power off button on the remote control.. Select the "System switch option", and allow the system to restart into CoreELEC OS.

CoreELEC to Android
In this instance, one already booted the CoreELEC OS and would like to switch over to the Android OS. Simply select the "Reboot from to eMMC/NAND" option from the Power menu. The system will reboot into Android automatically.

Alternatively, launch the main menu, enter the exit option, select the "Reboot from NAND" option. This should initiate a restart and boot into the Android AOSP system.

Updating the CoreELEC OS
Firstly download the incremental package file. Then copy this downloaded file to the /storage/.update folder on the device. Restarting the device will initiate the update. Bare in mind that on the STABLE version can be automatically updated in the system. The nightly version involves manually updating the core files.

Hi..I would say the most difference between them is that Android is a full fledged OS capable of much more than just Kodi...while CoreElec is a “just enough” Kodi “OS”. Which means, with CoreElec, one is mostly restricted to just addons and or Kodi features BUT is usually much more stable and feature rich than merely running default Kodi on an android OS powered box. This is particularly important on weaker devices or devices where the Kodi app doesn’t perform well. Then CoreElec can come in handy. Else, want to install various apps and or operate Android as a whole? Best to stick to Android OS. Custom ROMs are available that (personal preference) perform better then stock ROM.

To quote a poster...

QUOTE
Many people think that CoreELEC is just a way to run Kodi because they see it on their TV screen and try comparisons with Android, Windows 10, Linux for PC, etc., without thinking that CoreELEC runs excellently in small and cheap boxes that barely consume 5 watts, that can work 24/7 hours and that allow to replace, in a domestic environment, expensive NAS devices and PC-based servers.

Do you want a TV server? CoreELEC has it.
Do you want a file server with multiple disk drives? CoreELEC has it.
Do you want a network storage server for your security cameras? CoreELEC has it.
Do you want a log server to monitor your home network? CoreELEC has it.
Do you want a time server for devices that do not need an internet connection? CoreELEC has it.
Do you want a secure and remote access VPN server? CoreELEC has it.
Do you want to remotely monitor the operation of CoreELEC itself? CoreELEC has it.

CoreELEC is not a closed system like Android, but an open system like a PC that works on cheap devices that consume less than 5 watts.

Intel has also seen the potential of the low-cost device market and now there are emerging mini-PCs without ventilation and with six USB ports, at an increasingly affordable and interesting price, in China, of course!

Thanks to the entire CoreELEC team! So basically, it boils down to what device you have, if CoreElec is supported and if it’s the route you’d like to take for your media needs. As a heavy Kodi user myself. I find official support very welcome.

In addition to CoreELEC, the EmuELEC simulator system is also now compatible with all Beelink TV boxes. I've attached a brief explanation & guide on how to install it, using mostly the GT1 Mini-②, GT-King & GT-King Pro.

I watched some Youtube review regarding GT King as a capable machine in playing some PS and PSP games through emulator.

Wonder are those games and emulator readily installed in the machines sold through Shopee and Lazada here?

I doubt it.. You’d have to set it up and maintain yourself. FYI, there’s an illegal element involved in owning game ROMs for games you didn’t purchase and rip out yourself.

Thanks for replying. I do aware of the legal issues with those game ROMs. I just want to test whether certain game controllers work with emulators and some old games.

BTW, do you aware whether GT King work with simultaneous multiple game controllers, both wired and wireless?

Glad you are aware of it and that on such a public forum, I can’t go too in-depth on it.. sweat.gif

Hmm, I’ve only got one controller and that worked fine. IMO, The multi-controller working fine would depend largely on the game and or emulator themselves.. If they can support such. AFAIK, using the six axis app plus PS game pads should work. Simultaneous Bluetooth controller connections might prove trickier and tbh, Bluetooth on these boxes might not be the best medium. Nevertheless, I’ve got PS3 controller now and expecting a Gamesir G4S to be delivered in a bit. Perhaps, I’ll test out that combo.. see if it works. Most peopl and or games are typically single players.
