LOL, don't listen to these people...

Vet med in UPM is WAY harder to get into compared to med cz only two unis in Malaysia provides vet med (UPM and UMK) and no private unis...

Requirements to enter this degree;

With Diploma In Animal Husbandry from UPM - 3.75 CGPA
With STPM -3.5 CGPA
With Matriks - 3.75 CGPA

The competition to even enter the animal husbandry diploma is VERY tough, so u know lah how hard it is to get into the degree course...

And DVM is one of the courses that gives you money out of thin air, so...

You've gotta put your blood, sweat and tears to get into your studies to get DVM

Really? i thought its competitive..only 2 public uni offer this degree. No Malaysian private uni. I dont think you can get in if you put medicine as your first choice and Vet as second. Places will be given to those that put Vet as first choice (provided your CGPA is good enough)

Depends what perspective you looking at. I am not sure about the demand of these jobs tho locally. Afaik UPM offers this degree.
Malaysian Private University won't offer this degree simply because parents aren't willing to pay few hundred thousand for a vet course.

Parents would rather pay for their kids to become doctors than vets.
Besides it is costly to run a medical school. Unless you paid in a lucrative amount to cover up the debt you owe in tuition fees.
Also you need tons of land to keep the livestock for students training 😂

For private university, UCSI does offers BSc (Hons) Aquatic Science if you like marine animals laugh.gif

I was looking at your perspective, aka your reply, you mentioned that "Well it is a cold course, those normally got rejected by Medic enters here"
I think its misleading to imply this. The TS wants to do vet. Its not an easy course to get in and definitely not for medic rejects.

No, the reason for private universities is NOT offering vet is not because parents are not willing to pay. To run a vet program you need an animal facility. No private uni will build that. For medicine, there are already existing hospitals they can work with. I am sure if private unis can work around this without having to build their own animal facilities, they will offer vet courses.

FYI, there's a public uni in Kelantan thats also offering vet program

Well, if TS is from STPM/Matrik background with a good CGPA, no doubt he/she can join easily if put as top 3 choices for vetting.

But seriously tho, I'm pretty sure it will be very costly to operate such degree in the private university sector.
Dentistry/Medicine in IPTA, costs like RM 20k+/- after government subsidies, IPTS like IMU already RM 500k to 600k per student...
If Vetting is cheaper, how cheap they willing to charge?

Haven't considering the university might have shut down the program, if it does not comply to government regulatory standards.

Listen I have taken my dogs to UPM for treatment as one was born with a complex case involving her ureter and bladder.

They are EXECELLENT.

The professors there... my dog was a puppy back then. She was well taken care of, they really love animals and they’re very good at what they do.

If you have the qualifications for entry, and you’re passionate about animals, you should definitely apply.

One of my dogs got diagnosed with terminal cancer and they were so kind about it. So I think the people that are there know what they’re doing.

"Join easily if put as top 3 choices?"

I doubt it.
I dont think its guaranteed if you have a super CGPA and you put it as 2nd or worse, 3rd choice. A lot of people assume if they dont get medicine, they will be offered vet if they put it as the second choice. Its no longer true.
