Hi all,

What are your opinions on the Zontes Model?

My Republic

Paul tan

the following information is from bike republic

QUOTE

With the influx of Chinese motorcycles to Malaysia, we wonder if another maker, Zontes, could be on the way, as well.

The Zontes website lists six models of motorcycles. Three are 310cc and the other three 250cc models. The two engines act as the platforms for the different models.

The first, called 310T, looks like a BMW GS at first glance. Indeed, Zontes positions it as a lightweight adventure-tourer. From what we could gather, it features an electrically adjustable windscreen, TFT screen, upside-down forks, and crash bars.

A second model is listed as the naked sport 310R. It looks like the cross between an MV Agusta and Kawasaki Z800. Its most outstanding features are the twin slash-cut exhausts pipe tips and sharp tail with embedded LED taillights. It too, features a TFT screen.

The third model is what looks like a sport-tourer called the 310X. Apart from the same componentry of the 310R, it has an electrically-adjustable windscreen, as well.

Yeah, /k rarely interested with new product from oversea. But thats alright, just asking.

As for the reviews from its origin country, i will read it with the help of google translate.

I am interested with this bike, since it is shiny and stylish, keyless and provide button for almost everything, from oil tank to seat. And the price is affordable, with the price range from 21800 to 24800 otr.

Well then, i guess i will go off to fb group and bloggers that have used the bike.

zontes in trying to be different..

channel the oil into the bike frame to help cool in down..

heat from the oil will make the frame hot.. n heat will conduct to other parts of the frame..

one owner frm local group is complaining bout the heat...

here zontes is giving misleading comparison between their engine n others..

in the pic it shows ordinary engine's crank n counter weight is like dipped/ immersed in a tank of oil.

in actuall, modern engines for eg duke 390.. it wasnt like tht at all.. even car engines the crank was not immersed like that.

purpose of no oil sump engine is for racing application, not really to reduce resistance of pool of oil as claimed.

If you are planning to put that kind of money why not bmw 310r or 310 gs? I own 310r for almost a year now. Bought second hand 2018 at 18k with 1500 kms on it. The built quality is simply superb. Even it will beat bigger and expensive bikes on quality. I had used a newer kawasaki 650 during my licence time and could see the comparison. The only problem is the first gear is tall. Only when you use it for sometime you will get used to it. Other than that the bike is a mustang.

Sigh... G310R facelift coming soon... Decisions decisions decisions..

Going back to the topic it seems zontes single arm is already here.. But only for the T1 and R1.. The X1 doesn't seem like a lot of dealers selling it (seen it once on mudah but that was awhile back)

Actually for me any bike would be fine (sbk, touring, naked, motocross etc) but should have:
1) looks good
2) got big storage
3) within 20k price range. +3 to 5k is okay with me.
4) honorable addition: a bike that suits my b full license drool.gif drool.gif

310T with top and side box will look soo nice. Without box, the bike looks so empty.

xmax on the other hand is already looks good and have large storage under it. However with box, it looks a bit weird.

Due to above conflict, still not decide on buying one.

this kind of bike where can find a lot of storage oh?people add boxes around, but it is annoying riding in city, top box affect the bike aerodynamic.
20k++ - <25k can find 2nd hand z650. if you dont mind older model, can get er6 at 11k-13k, but you lose abs, more heavy, fuel consumption, older design

Throwing some other bike in the mix because I'm also thinking.. Kawasaki Z300/ninja 300 is there.. Used Z400 is also in that price range. BMW G310R is also in that range used but new face-lift version already open for booking in India. CB250R. Sigh decisions decisions decisions

Err... Any updates on this?

I'm eyeing the ZT310-T1 model as not only it is the most affordable ADV bike, it is also the most suitable ADV bike for short people like me (I'm 164cm tall).

Im waiting for the dealer still..I expect maybe end of month I get an answer.. rclxms.gif

For your case, I think the T1 model is more readily in stock compared to the X1.. All the shops I went to had the T and had different colors available. So I think you wont face issue like me..

Good luck thumbsup.gif

Did you have a chance to look for the T1? I got my bike 310x1 now smile.gif

Just clocked 150km with it so far.. So still relatively new.. So far it's been great compared to my modenas V15. Turning feels very light and nimble. But its still early days for me.

Thanks smile.gif Unfortunately for me i dropped my new baby bangwall.gif bangwall.gif bangwall.gif Low speed turn and got a bit misbalanced sad.gif

Got some scratches on the fairing and broke my clutch lever doh.gif and a bit of scuffs on the mirror.. sigh..

anyways..I think that low seat height is only for T model right? smile.gif I didnt know they brought also that option here smile.gif i heard it was available overseas.. You can also ask if they provide the spoke rims or the same rims as the X.. if you really want to go offroad the spoke rim is the way to go (from what I heard la).. All the best man

Hey everyone! Long time havent logged in to LYN, and just noticed this Zontes thread.

Just wanna share about my Zontes 310 T1 spoke rim model after about a month plus of using it.. So far, im enjoying riding it! Its so comfortable, fuel consumption quite good too. Im using the bike daily FYI, to and fro work, errands, anything.

Long trips, managed to do a last minute trip to Mersing with my wife, we're from KL. 500km one way. Riding was a breeze, even wife didnt complain anything. We made 3 stops along the way, when arrived Mersing jetty, our butts werent sore, so that means the seat comfort is quite okay. Also, with 3 boxes, a rider and a pillion, I managed to get a top speed at about 164km/hr. I think can reach the 170 speed cut eventually, but perhaps maybe that'll take quite a while. But from 0 to 160, not bad for a 310cc bike with full load. Our combined weight should be about 140kg. Exclusive of luggages.

My decision to get a Zontes 310T, is because of the technology, and also my own fear of riding a 'big' CC bike. Its my first from a kapcai. When I first got it, it really is about as light as a kapcai handling wise. No 'culture shock' for me at all when I first took it from my dealer.

Currently my odometer is about 3500km. Did my second service already at Orange Bike Shop Kayu Ara. First service was in Sentul, the big KTM shop, corner lot. I know a guy riding the first model of 310T, clocked mileage of about 40k km edi. Asked him about maintenance and all, he said he just service on time. No other issues. There was this once his exhaust was leaking, but that was during 30k km. Good enough for its wear n tear for me.

Btw this youtube review of my bike was done by a vlogger that contacted me:

Anyways, theres too many things to share although the bike is still new with me, but just to share some tips:
- When you first take your bike, ask your dealer to change to a new battery for your keyless remotes(PKI / transponder). Youll be given two sets.
- Double check all the electronics. I have no issue with mine at all so far, but I did check them before taking it back home
- Other normal stuff to check like the keys for the boxes, coolant levels, oil engine level, etc.

Hello fellow Zontes user smile.gif Great to hear about your bike! thumbup.gif

I'm still to break the 1000km with the bike. But so far I am also a very happy user of the bike smile.gif Have only been using it in and about KL and it is a breeze to go through traffic.

Does your bike have any vibration on the handlebars? I've got some vibration there and sometimes it can get numbing on the throttle hand. Do you have the same?

For those that have the TFT display zontes you can use google maps to display navigation prompts on screen using this app https://we.tl/t-ElKAXnaUSf

Its Android only. And the app pushes the google map notification from the phone to the screen in the shape of icons. App is not developed by me.

The showcase video can be found here

It works on my 310X1

Some quirks to note about:
1. The engine must be running before connecting else the bluetooth connection becomes lost and nothing is shown..
2. After arriving at the destination and/or if for some reason the connection disconnects you have to force close the app in the settings before it can reconnect again.
3. Roundabout icon is for left hand drive.
4. Sometimes during a ride there is a bug which causes the time to be reset and the bluetooth connection becomes lost. Only had it happen once. Not sure what or why it happens

But apart from that its nice to get a navigation prompt on screen 👍

Happy CNY. Any comments from Zontes owners are most welcome. I'm keen on the 310V but maybe some highlights some sifus on this brand, quality and after sales service is most welcome.
