After trying back and forth a couple monitors of different sizes, res and refresh rate including from my friends I have some experience to share

Size: I feel that for gaming, 27 inch is the perfect size. 32 inch is very good for media and browsing web but dizzying when gaming. 24 inch is really too damn small, watch show also not shiok

Resolution: To be honest 1440p looks very good in the right situation. However, the problem is that most media is only 1080p which causes it to become upscaled and not look so nice. Plus some games I play only support 1080p so cant play fullscreen properly. I feel that I still prefer 1080p on 27 inch as there isnt so much problem

Refresh rate: I could tell the difference between 75hz and 144hz but I feel like it was really not that significant unless I compare side by side. 75hz feels more than enough to have a good experience.

In conclusion:
27 inch 1080p 75hz is the best for low to mid end because it has the least problems while still giving a good general experience. It can save you tons of money to simply use such a monitor instead of upgrading to a much more expensive gpu + monitor combo for a little bit improvement in experience

Anybody got different/similar experiences to share?

27 inch with denser resolution (2K++) and higher refresh rate (but not TN panel) is the perfect combo when it's placed >1m away

You are correct, you already have the perfect combo, I am using now for example ML249H monitor which is like 8 years old already from ASUS, it's 1080p on 75Hz and I am more than happy with it for sure. I do not understand the need for more and I am a gamer.

Not just the refresh and resolution important but personally after the first time I used an ips display I can never go back to a TN. Been using exclusively ips for the last 7 years even when I buy a laptop I make sure its ips. Haven't tried VA panel. Anybody got feedback?

IT's all depends on your goals and budget really. As for size yes, 27" is fine 24" is already small for me and I am using it for years really. 1440p is not supported everywhere I know, very rare cases. Some people do report that they see the difference between 75hz and 144hz.

Depends - but for me I always prefer higher refresh rates than resolution icon_idea.gif

More natural colour compare to TN. TN to me looks kind of washed out. You will see it if you do side by side comparison or after using ips for long.
However some of the more expensive gaming monitors with TN look kind of OK but IMO ips still better.

Which one better that can see dark background especially black or dark color background?

Especially for games that have dark or black color background.

Look at Zowie BenQ monitors which have black eQualizer technology.

Best monitor for csgo players if you're one of it.

Skip that, not doing competitive gaming. Just want alternative on IPS or VA monitor.
