If your car can use Ron 95 without knocking Ron 97 does nothing for your car. It will not make your engine perform more optimally.

Both my cars can use 95

But on one car it definitely have added horse power with baseline Dyno and RON100 Dyno, increase in ponies observed. Even though only 2.9 ponies laugh.gif
The other car also I wouldn't doubt it with manual distributor timing alteration with just a screwdriver

Both cars originally is recommended for RON97

lol at all those saying 97 got effect on car compare to 95

a lot of western countries or 1st world country using 92 as "common", 95 as "premium"

because malaysia is oil production country, thats why our fuel quite "atas"

Depends on car. If the engine is designed or specified to use RON97 then you will get performance on RON97. If your engine is optimized for RON95, then using RON97 will not gives you anything extra. Waste of money.

Modern car engine has knocking sensor that enable car using RON97 to use RON95, but you will lose some performance and probably use a bit more fuel for some mileage loss.

You can refer to this article for relation between compression ratio and fuel octane rating. Remember that the octane rating here is the US rating which is not the same as in Malaysia.

For comparison between octane rating, you can refer here

This is the correct statement.

Here is another quote for Mazda SkyActive Engines which has super high N/A compression ratio of 14:1 but only asks for RON 95

Fuel Requirements (MZR 1.6, SKYACTIV-G 1.5, SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5)

So if you wanna listen to that salesman's BS that must run on RON 97, ask him to pump a full tank of ROn 97 (or better still RON 100) out from his sales commission laugh.gif
