Hi . I am first time mother . Would like to ask a simple question for those who already go through it , but not for 1st time mother ?

Once you have one of three sign of labour , you will proceed to your hospital of choice to give labour .

My question is : WHAT HAPPEN ONCE YOU REACH THERE ?

when will the gynae come in ?
when will the Vaginal Examination to check the vagina dilation done ?
Will they ask whether we want epidural , morphine or ethonox ?
When we need to give the red book ?
and etc and etc and etc .

Thank You

Info : im 37 weeks pregnant . will deliver at Hospital Putrajaya under FPP .

Congratulations first of all...

The follow up really depends on your signs. Also based on how much water left in womb when arriving at the hospital. When you are getting contraction, reach faster to hospital and it’s no wrong to be in the hospital day before than being somewhere else.

Gynecologist will check once you are admitted.
Do not worry frequently trip doctors will check about the length of openings. At some point if you can’t bear the pain and keep on asking the doctor about pain, they will ask you about epidural. Some say not to take epidural because they’re feeling it even after few months. Pink book you will submit immediately after your admission. Don’t worry nurse will take care of these things.

Just keep an eye on time of contraction and sometimes doctors won’t do scans frequently to check the cord positions. So in that case c section is the only option. So ask the doctor is everything okay with baby position and all.

All the very best. Hope you keep a bag of necessary items for baby to give to nurse upon admitting.

when come to contraction, direct go to hospital
from there direct to labour room...
sometime it takes 3-4 hour to fully open
and nurse always check time to time
after baby head reach at ....... then nurse know it time to deliver
sometime they call father to come a look how it deliver
after finish deliver, they clean a baby, measure all...then they note it on red book

this my experience from putrajaya hospital with my 2 son...same procedure...
sometimes it happens very fast, you don't know it done already

Congratulations ......

Best to go for checkup in the morning or avoid high intakes of sugar or carb on the checkup day.

My wife never faced this problem before because we went for Saturday morning checkup with empty stomach. Due to long wait (sometimes), I suggested for workday afternoon checkup and that was my biggest mistakes. After she got diagnosed with high glucose level in her urine, gynae kept bugging and we even had to meet diet doctor. Had to take test everyday after meals. After few times, we finally got used to it and just fake the record. It's impossible to get healthy glucose level if you're eating healthily especially in the final few weeks when the baby is growing at the fastest speed. It went away after the pregnancy like many others reported online.

For me, once i reach the hospital, i submitted my pink book to the nurse on duty. Then, the nurse will take blood pressure reading and take me to the labor room. If not in labor yet, an MO will be assigned to take notes on the pregnancy details etc. Then, let's say got contraction, they will check for cervical dilation. If still small for e.g. 1cm or so, they will admit you to the maternity ward first while waiting for the dilation to get larger.

Normally, cervical dilation is done every 5 hours in the hospital im in. I went to GH. Once Im at 3cm dilated, im wheeled to the labor room. Thank God not many ppl is in labor on that day. If many ppl, they will only wheel the mother into the labor room once she's 5cm if im not mistaken.

Once in the labor room, i asked for options for pain killer. I was given 3 choices: laughing gas, some pain killer injection and epidural. I took epidural. Then during labor, they drip me with pitocin to make my cervix to dilate faster. Spent 9 hours in labor before baby is born. Awesome team of doctors and nurses. Seriously, i couldn't ask for more. 😊👍

I didnt take fpp, i spent 7 days 6 nights in the hospital (because baby is overdue and my labor have to be induced 4 times before water finally broke), total damage is rm127.

You don't go to the hospital once you feel contractions right away. You need to time if they are around 3 to five minutes apart. That's when you'll be admitted to the labor room in most hospitals. Also, you can get admitted once your water breaks.

I was in 12 hours of labor when I gave birth to my daughter. I thought I was prepared for the pain but you'll never be prepared for it. You just have to deal with it. This is a good article talking about how painful is childbirth.

Congratulations!!! I'm so excited for you to meet your little angel. Being a mom is the best thing that ever happened to me. smile.gif
