Nowadays why are there so many cars with front LED strips below the headlamp? Are they factory fitted or self fitted? It light up in bright sunlight environment and make such an annoying glare to other drivers. What's the purpose of this Led strip? I think Jpj should ban them.

The DRL caught your attention during daytime isn't it.

Good. That's the whole purpose of DRL.

they are DRL and part of safety features.

It's much better than those HID users with reflectors type of headlamps.
Projector headlamps still doable not so glare.

However... Self fitted DRL mostly do not come with a dimmer/controller module.

Unless you are using branded ones such as Phillips, Hella, osram, etc.

The dimmer is tapped onto the main head light or at least the parking lights. When it detects power on these lights, the dimmer module will cut the power to the DRL by half or less.

drl from factory.. when engine ON it will be at full brightness.

when headlamp is turned on, the brightness of the LED lighting will be reduce automatically so that it wouldnt disturb the view of traffic from the opposite side.

Suprima, Preve refinemet have this feature.

Fog light annoying? Did any specific car in your neighbourhood did a retrofit hid at the fog light, causing you to vent at all other DRL/ fog light users?

Next should be talking bout factory fitted hid in benz, bmw and Porsche and relating them to the neighbourhood hid installed proton wira.

Fog light use when there is fog around or heavy rain.
day time or normal night time no need fog light. annoying.
some idiot driver only ON fog light and DRL but OFF headlamp when driving night time.
If you driving in Malaysia now days, you can see more 50% light ON their Fog light and
around 30% of them retrofit with bright light. brighter than normal headlamp.

Erm..... all of your points are jumbled up to justify your anger. You need to segregate it dude;-

Fog lights are used when there is heavy rain/ fog, does not mean cannot use when there is not.

It is not ok to drive at night with headlights off and by only relying on DRL and fog lights.

Don’t really know where you pluck the 30% number from and “bright light retrofit” is quite vague, is it a modified HID on their fog light? If so then it’s illegal. Is it just white? Most new cars come with with fog lights now with proper light throw design. Only cheaper new cars/ cheaper version of new cars (ie civic full spec and civic lower spec) comes with non white fogs.

Usually if retrofit badly or did not repair proper after accidents, the fog light might “shine” higher and cause discomfort on oncomings. But fogs are designed to have very wide throw instead of long throw(ie high beam).

Now if u drive a very low car( lotus/ Ferrari/ lambo) most cars/ suv even with non modified lights will blind you as your vision will be usually in direct path of the light throw.

If you are driving a normal height car/ suv and have this issue it could very well be an eye condition, glare? I know some would have issue driving at night due to excessive glare and difficulty to process vision where there is light source and dark areas. Do seriously get it checked (no sarcasm, seriously). Drive safe, don’t put you/ your family at risk from your condition.
