I got a new Logitech Z560 like 16 years ago but I did not use it and it was in the store room ever since then. Colleague told me that the capacitors are prolly dead but I am abit curious on firing up. Should I keep it or throw it away? I would need to buy a step down transformer for this as it requires 110v.

It is more like the foam surround the cone get disintegrated. The capacitor usually the electrolytic type on the power supply will not stay at its rating but powering the unit on probably will revive the capacitor capacity back to normal.

I think it should still be working unless the speaker cone is bad but I think it should still be okay id using polypropylene cone.

Don't really need the speakers. Just that it's been sitting there for 15 years and thought of just hooking it up. if it's dead, life goes on with my headphones. biggrin.gif

Cone looks okie. It was kept in the store and given the humidity in msia, I suppose it is not bad yet but I gotta see it when I get home this weekend.

Dump it and get Edifier S530D for 2.1 or S550 for 5.1
As user who jumps from Logitech Z680 then Logitech Z5500 to Edifier S530D then to Edifier S550, trust me when I say those Logitech is crap

Last time cone on cheap speaker was paper. Now mostly polypropylene which can last forever. Only the part surround the cone and speaker gasket is made by several material.
