"Great news! We are upgrading our plan to make it even better for you and your family. Your quota will be doubled to 20GB (10GB DataPool + 10GB All-Day) monthly. This upgrade is FREE, automatic and permanent, it will take place between 16-25 May. Your new quota will reflect on MyMaxis App after 26 May."

I got this sms from maxis, is it correct? Cant find any official announcement on Maxis website.

As for now, im subscribing MaxisOne 158 with 50GB and with 2 sub line (5GB each) which total up 60GB per month. So, after this upgrade how my data gonna be? 120GB? or only 110GB(consider 5gb each for my 2 sub line)?

Maxis staff reply me pelase biggrin.gif

I received the sms too, pretty confusing lol.
So 10gb goes to datapool, the other 10gb all day means what? Only the primary number get the extra 10gb? So for the sub lines get nothing except for the 10gb datapool that is shared by all?

received the same sms too. they still can't understand that people want cheaper plans, not more quotas.

With Digi and Celcom merger they will be forced to lower their prices for sure.

Or the other way around.
Less competition means more monopoly and with they being on top, don’t get your hopes up for a cheaper plan.
Plus most of us staying with Maxis is due to the superior 4G network they have compared to other telcos.
I have used all the three telcos and I know what I am talking about.

There are many problems Digi has to attend at Celcom. For instance, the many MVNO riding on Celcom network which cause congestion in many places.

If the merger happens, which in reality it’s actually a takeover of Celcom by Digi actually, instead of Maxis lowering its price, we may actually see the new MergedCo to scrap some super cheap plans such as Digi Postpaid 38 and Digi Postpaid 58 as there is less competition. Scrap as in no longer offering the plans for new subscription, but existing customers on those plans shouldn’t be affected, which normally is the case. And of course, new Postpaid plans will be introduced for sale.

I am actually optimistic, maybe after merging they have many many extra bandwidth to offer MVNO, and Gobind Singh will also promote more MVNO more competition

Unlike fibre, there is actually no pressure to continue slashing down the price of mobile subscription in this country as it is already amongst the cheapest in the world.

And there is a chance that this merger may benefit U Mobile and to a certain extent Maxis as the new MergedCo is forced to give up some highly prized spectrum in order to gain regulatory approval for merger to go ahead.

Agree, generally less completion means higher prices...

it is much better now

for Maxis One Share => 5GB DataPool + 5GB 4G Weekend to 10GB DataPool + 10GB All Day

from maxis app i notice me as principal and sub
for example one MOP128 + MOS48
previously MOP128 + MOS48 => total 45GB Data Pool (MOP128 and MOS48 can utilize) + 5GB (weekend 4G for MOS48 only)
after the upgrade
now MOP128 + MOS48 => total 50GB Data Pool (MOP128 and MOS48 can utilize) + 10GB (all day for MOS48 only)

means sub line get the best out of this upgrade, although principal line get some with added 5GB/sub to data pool sweat.gif
from the maxis app i notice MOS will utilize 10GB AllDay (previously is 5Gb 4G/LTE weekend only) data quota first before consuming Data Pool

it is actually 20GB for RM48, if share line want to ensure the Data Pool 10GB belongs to him/her lol (which can be done through maxis app by limiting it to 10GB)
compare to 5GB Data Pool + 5GB (4G/LTE weekend only)
