Hi, i need a suggestion for my first car, but i would like to buy a 2nd hand car only. So ive interested in this car. My budget are below 40k

1. Ford fiesta 2012/2014
2. Polo tsi 2012
3. Golf tsi 2012

All the model above are extremely unreliable and extremely high in maintenance cost. All 3 above have known issue (rather serious issue tbh). Good luck as your first car

I had 1 friend who owned a VW MPV. had all sorts of problems with the mechatronic, gear box and clutch. IN the end, drove his faithful perodua to office instead.

If this is your first car and your ONLY car, just go for the new local cars eg. Iriz/Myvi.

As a 7-yr old Fiesta owner, I have more ups than downs and I enjoy the car very much, but that's because I've done very thorough research before I buy and I know where to get parts, their prices and where to find specialist workshops. There is a learning curve which is not for everybody.

These cars need more attention than the typical Japanese or local cars. If you are looking for a daily car with minimum fuss, these cars are not for you.

It also helps that I daily drive another car.

For your first car you will be ill advised to get any of the above 3 cars which requires a lot of time, money, knowledge and effort to maintain. Hold off on continental makes until you are more experienced with cars and have a fatter bank account. In the meantime you can get a new Proton or Perodua for RM40K.

40k can get a new axia. drive for 10 years also no problem.

Please come back again once you have one reliable car at home as a backup, then only think of buyimg a Conti car.

Budget RM40k, I assume that your income is enough to comfortably support the loan for RM40k and no more. You can buy the car you mentioned but do you think you can afford the maintenance cost and spare part replacement cost?

I suggest you look for new car price range RM40k, or if you want to save some depreciation, any 2nd hand car which cost RM40k when it is new. The maintenance cost is usually scaled with the new car price.

Those car you listed out are 1. RM9xK, 2. RM9xK, and 3. RM13xK when it is new. Sure enough, the expected maintenance cost is double or even triple of a RM40k car, can you afford it?

If buy a car but cannot afford the maintenance cost to keep it running, keeps breaking down, then why buy car in the first place? Don't let ego get the better of you.

probably the bank wont loan full amount to you. bank have to think, if u dont pay loan, the bank have to tarik car and auction it off to gain back. these cars probably wont fetch a good price so bank will not loan full amount

After read all u guys opinion i think its better i get for a new one right? In the first place i want to get the 2nd car cause i want to minimize my monthly budget, but then u guys said all of this car are high maintenance hahah damn, then it must be double up my budget. So if there any suggestion what car should i get for a 2nd hand car and a new car? Jazz? That 40k ive budget for those 2nd hand car only, but i probably can afford for another option, if the car are the new one
