my sis had thyroid cancer last year and treated by dr john low in sunway med (as second opinion), friendly dr. but first impression not very good because he ordered for one test that i think not necessary, end up the test result negative and he still recomend same treatment as forst dr. choosen him because he is friendly and explain things clearly. might want to exclude him if do not have insurance.

hope your family recover well.

yes she recovered, stage 1 only by the way.

the dr is encouraging, and i think mentality plays a role to aid recovery as well, so i pursuaded her to choose this dr over another dr that she first consulted in penang.

Was with him a couple of years back (2013~2015). Very clinical and logical. My family experience was with stage 4 colon cancer.

Downside - if you prefer Chinese / Mandarin speaking, or you need doctor with gentle approach.

Someone recommended me Dr. Ho Kwo Fuang from PPUM. Seems like an option that I can consult.

Anyone else that could recommend me a good oncologist?

Thanks in advance notworthy.gif

My late dad was treated by Dr Tho Lye Mun of Beacon Hospital, PJ.
Now he already jumped ship to Sunway Medical Centre.
Quite ok and humble doctor.

Agree. My late father was treated there. Though he didn’t make it, it was a case where Assunta Hospital asked us to go back and wait for his death while he was still in good shape and can talk and can walk. Beacon Hospital admitted my late father and never gave up and some how he managed to discharge from the hospital and live a good few months before succumbed to his disease. He was treated by Dr Dato Ibrahim by the way.

Beacon hospital offer immunotherapy now. Less side effect than chemo. The oncologist would evaluate the cancer type and propose the suitable therapy.

Sorry to hear about it, your family must be stressed. Give moral support and be patient with him/her.

Sorry, didn't realise you're looking for oncologist. Dr Kong is not only experienced but honest ethical good Doctor/surgeon, not those businessman type Doctor. See him and he can help recommend oncologist.

Is scary ..coz my dad is only 66 and he live a very very healthy life. He don't smoke , don't t drink , don't simply eat (no red meat) and a lot and lots of veges and fruits. He also go for exercise every morning without miss. He is so obsess with his heath that he practice fasting almost everyday.
Imagine this kind of lifestyle can get bladder cancer 4th stage summo.

No need to see 2nd opinion unless you really don't like the current treatment options or the oncologist doesn't prescribe the right tests, and does not treat the patient properly.

All the oncologists will do the same diagnostic tests, they will check the type of cancer cell, the responsiveness to drugs/medication/chemo. No point going around seeing other oncologist and wasting money/time, they will do the same tests. It is the patient's luck whether or not the cancer cells respond to treatment.

My aunt (father's side), only 60 years old had breast cancer, was super unlucky. Her cancer cells were very aggressive and quickly metastasized despite undergoing surgery + chemo/radiotherapy. It's just chance that she got triple-negative breast cancer which does not respond well to treatment. We tried everything but she passed away last year.

My friend's wife had breast cancer too but recovered quickly after treatment. It all boils down to the type of cancer cells the patient has, not the oncologist.
