There were a few comments made, maybe hard to find.... try searching.

I know the 2 are much the same except for 2 of 4 hdmi ports at the side while 4 are at the back for older one.

New one is lighter, thinner overall.

Unclear if all sizes of new model are backlit or only selected sizes.

Androidtv shud be same, android8.0.

Ua6800x is about 1.5 years old... mine is almost a year old, happy enuf with it.

i wud suggest u visit the stores and view the 2 sharp models side by side, get some idea the PQ diff besides the price.

i have not done that as i am not looking for new tv.

about sony... i have not used or even looked closely.

i wud think the androidtv wud b the same as it is the same google certified os.

however, i have read some sony androidtv users saying they find it laggy.

really, i do not know what this laggy means... becos the sharp does not lag at all but very normal.

i can say that becos i am using both ua6800x (anndroidtv 8.0) and ue630x (androidtv 6.0).

u gotta try to find more info... but i think the sony threads aren't active, not much u can get.

i use both androidtv and boxes.

androidtv is convenient... just switch on the tv, click-click, u get news, videos, apps, etc... incl astrogo and unifi playtv.

boxes can do more, more versatile, depending on what box and what u want.

if u venture into boxes, i have only one pc of advice - there are like 1,000 boxes out there... know which one serves yr purpose best... rm88 to rm1.8k.

a major topic to explore if u wanna get into it.

i can't say much unless i know which specific app(s).

androidtv may reject certain illegit apps that are deemed to be malicious, contain malware, etc.

generally ok, but there will be some that case trouble... ads, trojans, etc.

a matter of where u get those apk's.

my advice is if u are into those illegit/unknown apps, better get a separate box so as not to f up the tv.

but if u mainly use legit/approved and "clean" apk's, androidtv is fine.

i have used many "clean" apk's, all OK.

in the event u get al1x or ua6800x, i can assist.

voice search comes on by default.

just click a few times, wait a bit, voice search gives up, go away, keyboard appears.

don't use the regular android version.

use this androidtv version, somebody built it ready for use.

This one is one of best for the tv, enjoy.

since u like rss androidtv, go to playstore, find adrama - not as good but it may have stuff u may like.

there is also zaltv but u need the right code to get it going.

I have an additional questions here. Does this tv can detect subtitles from mkv file and does this tv have an optical audio output. My current setup is using HTiB for surround speaker. It connect using optical to HTiB.

how's the AL1X experience so far?

So wanted to see forummers with AL1X to provide some input.

make sense.. given the price of AH8X, it is cheaper than AL1X despite the paper spec advantage. I've seen both side by side, hard to say which is better. there is a slight difference but negligible.
