Born of an old, respected family in the land but subsisting on a low income, Shuurei accepts an invitation to become the new Emperor`s concubine while believing that he is homosexual. The real purpose of her marriage is, however, to educate the lazy Emperor. Her close friend, Seiran, also enters the court as royal guard. Things get complicated when the characters unexpectedly develop feelings for each other.

Something which i downloaded but never watched it because only my sister watches it. That kinda of stuff, well, to me at least.

Only S1 is licenced AFAIK but fansubbers chickened out on the second season.

Season 2 is not licenced right?? *sigh* Nobody is subbing it...

There are chinese subs but they're dead by the time I tried to get them...

Fansub suck says its licensed yes? So keep subbing s2 until get licensed and then underground method.

Added on July 23, 2007, 8:56 pmI have seen S1 of this anime and its quite a good Ancient China power struggle, love story anime. Its less serious than 12 kokuki, but slightly higher than Kyo Kara Maou. It has less jokes compared to Kyo Kara Maou, but substitute the maou, with one gutsy female, and lots of bishounen. Something like Fushigi Yuugi, but it does not focus on the love part, more like the girl does not want to get into a relationship. A good anime, now waiting for someone to sub S2. I'm damn pissed that i only short of 5 more episodes of season 1 because i was follwing the slower fansub, Shadow Dream. Zzz.

Anyone watching tis anime? At 1st i not sure wheter it is nice or not coz myself normally wont like tis kind of love story based anime. But i found tat it is not tat bad, instead, it is very nice, The storyline is good, funny yet romantic sometimes (gt some very touching scenes too). The characters in this anime also very good. Overall is very nice!!! And not forget to mention the opening and ending song also very nice!!!

I finished the first season, but nobody's subbing the second season.... =_=

I missed Sainkoku Monogatari when it came out....uhhh was it last season? I saw a snippet of an episode today. The king is like yaoi with the general and the girl is tsundere. XD

There are 20 raw episodes, I found like 6 subbed episodes.
The others are chinese subs, and I'm not particularly fond of chinese subs.
I tried to pick up chinese subs once in an act of desperation, but I was a bit late and there weren't any seeds. gahh

The funny part is that shurei really thought the emperor is gay..

Who watch this anime? I only can find english sub until ep 20 for season 2. Who knows where i can download the rest? S2 has ended right?

I had watched this until Shurei almost get fired from her job as being an unemployed.

yes the second season has ended with a total of 39 episodes however currently the latest subbed episode is episode 20 by C1 anime fansub

as far as i know, this anime is based on a light novel of the same title
and since the light novel is still ongoing i don't think we'll get to see the conclusion of the series yet
so maybe there'll be a season 3 of this series in the future

wow. a season 3? and i thought 2 season was long! are they stretching it on purpose? doesn't matter to me though. love it!

So far I have found up to 35/39 sub eps of S2. Only watch 8/39 2 years ago. Will watch all in one go when it finishes.
Must be one underated anime since not a lot of people aware of this anime

Yeah its about a girl named Shuurei who aspire to become a court official to improve the livehood of people. At the same time, the Emperor Ryuuki is in love with her. The first season is still OK but I can see in the second season the story is getting slower and slower in pace.
Even the picture novel which the anime is based on keep dragging the story pace by coming up with the origins prominent families in Saiunkoku in each new release.

I have seen up to ep 11 and its shaping up into a good anime. In S2 the problem is with some disease. The rest are the same, funny why this anime is not highly watched. There is a lot of quality in this anime. Probably better than 12 kokuki.

May I be the next to finish all of Saiunkoku Monogatari? :sweat: :thumbs: loved it from the bottom of my heart! :clap: I finished just in three days :) :) :) :) :) I'd like to see S3 :( i'ts sooo :shock: I just cannot find proper words to discribe the feelings I have after this amazing story :stars: It even made me think that this is better job then Fushigi Yuugi ( they are somehow so so similar).
