Hi, I just recently adopted two syrian hamsters. The owner did not tell me that one of them were pregnant and then suddenly this morning I noticed a few babies and was shocked
 as I did not expect to see any babies since both were females. First of all this is my first time being a grandmother to baby hamsters. I need advice on how to care and look after the mother and babies. So far I have separated the two females. There were 3 dead babies and a few more surviving which the mother is protecting. What am I supposed to do and not do? Please help anyone!  |

Hi Crazymouse,It was wrong for the previous owner to give you a pregnant hamster. Moving a pregnant hamster to a new home brings about stress that can cause such things to happen too.
