QUOTE(nix99 @ May 12 2019, 03:32 PM) What's the cost of getting vasectomy in public vs private hospital? Can't seem to find information about it in Malaysia. Hi, suddenly (while looking for peoples experiences about invisalign and reading a bad review of a local provider) thought about people looking for advice about what i can give them advice about from my personal experience..TS have face problem, dont want to pass it on to next generation lol TLDR: I went for a vasectomy 6 years or so ago, I had a bad experience with my initial surgeon/urologist and surgery and post care. Went to a second urologist in the end to take care of me. I opted for "private" instead of HUKM or HUM because i thought it would have better care and better procedures, i was wrong. The way i see it public hospitals have to do the most optimal to get you well as fast as possible unlike private hospitals. (Incidentally i have heard one direct personal anecdote of malpractice at Gleneagles (cancer related not vasectomy related)). I did a bit of research before hand and i opted for mid range private which was KPJ, Prince Court quoted a much higher price of course which i dont remember now. Place: KPJ TTDI Price: Rm5300 (basic pay, payment afterwards cannot remember) Doctor: *Very unhelpful* and condescending (i want to say a lot racist and agist remarks) but i really suspect that maybe the doctor doesnt do enough vasectomy (in malaysia right) and using old methods(?! ok im saying ignorant and personal things here). If i imagine his face i really feel a strong urge to ****king punch his k*l*** face in. Procedure: In the OT, the nurses had to needle me 4 times! to give me anaesthetic because they couldnt get a vein (or artery). My thalassemia/sickle cell was already made known before hand (i think part of it causes very fast blood clotting/coagulation) , but (it is obvious) NO ONE made a note of it in how they would treat me and post operative care advice. Post operative care: It was only day operation and i got discharged immediately. Doctor only told me to "wear tight underwear" "dont wash the wound". I read online that icing was essential but doctor said "no, only wear tight underwear, dont read all this internet thing". I took leave for a week, however relaxed i was i still needed to move around to makan and go toilet, cant know for sure if that was what caused my hematoma, but i got a bulging scrotal hematoma in two-three days, doctor only said "dont worry just wear tight underwear" at the end of the week hematoma did not subside furthermore blood seeped out! I took extended leave, doctor gave me all sort of options mainly to give him more money in my opinion. He wanted to install a drainage pipe to drain the blood etc Do i recommend: NO Place: Prince Court Price: RM300? (single consultation) Doctor: A senior and sympathetic doctor Procedure: Doctor recommended me to go back to original urologist to do a drainage. Do i recommend: YES but pricier than KPJ definitely Place: HUKM Price: dont remember RM1xxx not inclusive of post care Doctor: A young and less condescending doctor imo Procedure: Blood drainage operation. Wound in the scrotum was left open to heal and close naturally required daily cleaning and dressing. No drainage pipe, just natural drainage. I stayed in the hospital for 3 days during hari raya. Do i recommend: YES Result: Im content that i went through with it. The world has enough humans as it is. Vasectomy doesnt remove sexual desire as others might think and neither does it remove ability to orgasm, but i found out that without the danger of impregnating a lady somehow sex became non-dangerous and ... sometimes boring POST THOUGHTS: 1. why isnt there a national/world registry of providers and their track records? Surgeons and failed /successful surgeries (is there?) (i believe registered building contractors might have such a registry thats why some are blacklisted) |
