Nope, not because of DDR3.

Apparently, there was a surplus of DDR2 due to anticipation of high demand prior to windows Vista. However, when Vista came out and not many people adopted it, nobody wanted to get more rams either......

Now that ram companies are cutting down their production, supply should be less and prices will go up. That's what I think is going on after reading forumers comments up to now.....

Rumours indicates that the rams prices will still increase! The effects are already seen in the bulk section.

I've mention b4 that by year end, DDR3 will bcome common in the market, and EOL will be put on DDR2. Therefore, now, DDR2 prices will still be tame. By the time reaches Sept, price will go up like end of last year. Everytime, near end of the year, alot of Europe countries and US upgrade their rams, so, with the influx of demand there, prices will rocket sky high.

Although DDR3 isn't as tempting as it seems now due to the loose timing, but it'll be the 'in-thing' for users who r going to play with their new processors, Penryn and also Phenom.

So, for those who can afford to upgrade, its best to get it while its still reasonable now.
*
As far as I know, DDR3 won't be mainstream untill 2008/2009. Even with that, the prices will still be quite expensive as compared to DDR2. IMO, it is only when many people, if not the majority, adopt DDR3 will the prices start to fall to acceptable/affordable levels.

did u mean by year end, ddr3 price will be affordable/acceptable by majority???
that'll sounds pretty nice/good ... if it's true..``  hmm.gif

I don't think so. DDR3 is still relatively new......

As long as ddr2 ram still in production the price will still be OK...I think by end of the year when ddr3 becoming popular with cheaper price and ddr2 stop production , then ddr2 price will SHOT UP coz still in demand but less stock available.
*
DDR3 won't be mainstream until 2008-2009. That's the projection.

I think DDR2 will still be around for a good 3-4 years and maybe longer!!! Of course, DDR2 prices will slowly go up..... sad.gif

Well, from the looks of things, flash prices will be rising and rising, no end in sight at the moment. So if you are planning to get your thumb drives, hold on first, unless it's super urgent.
*
Ehh?? blink.gif Shouldn't it be the other way round. Since it's going to rise, better buy now? laugh.gif
