I just got a free Male Robovoski from forumer itssg. He was kind enuf to let me give a go at keeping this cute hammy. I was told it has about 1 year left, so hope to let it enjoy its time here. But, will learn more from u guys and gals here. Currently, i wanna ask, do i need to encourage it to drink water ? coz i fitted the bottle there, it did drank some water yesterday and friday, can hear it drinking from the bottle and the sound of the ball bearing. But, today it don't want. So, i took the bottle and put it near its mouth, then it keep on drinking. When i put it back to the holder, i ran there and drink. So, I was wondering, do i need to encourage it to drink ?

THe rest of the stuffs, looks ok for it.

By the way, there's some hammy smell in my room now. haha, will it cause any bacteria build it ? I mean from the odour. I do keep the cage clean every 3 days, today was the 1st cleaning. Other than that, all seems ok.

Also, temps between 20-35 is it ok for it ?

Anyone knows where I can get a small metal stainless steel food bowl like the size of those chili plastic plates ?

Sis Hun: haha, ur words there is funny. haha. Anyway, erm, I'll take a look at the Healthy Pet in Pet Safari. If its huge, anyone wanna share, can share lo, otherwise, I'll just get it on my own coz I dunno how much of it I'll need. Oh yah, about the bowl, will the hammy chew on to the ceramic bowls ? Not so healthy ? I thot of getting a stainless steel bowl, then sort of glue it or fix it at a place in the new home. Will plan to get 2, 1 for the food, another for the sand bath, any tips for the sandbath ? Just normal sand or any specific sand ? Oh, I hope my recent itch bites on my legs and hands are not caused by keeping it in my room. haha. I'll try to allocate it elsewhere in my home.

Thanks for the tip, will note it down. I'll go to Pet Safari and peak around. Actually, that is my last place to go, coz previously I heard they left a dog or 2 at the side, near the toilet entrance, to rot and die there. Dunno how true was it, but can't remember where i saw it b4. I felt it was too cruel although they claimed that they dunno wats the disease it had and they just dump it there. So, since then, i never set foot inside it anymore. But if its for my hamster good health, will give them a try.

I got healthy pet for my robos. But, it prefer to sleep on the tissue on the floor rather on the bedding, it kicked away all of it. How ah ?

Nezu: Need ur advice again on how to serve the fresh food to the hammy. Forgot to save up our convo previously.

Nice, my female robos oso like to climb on around my shirt. lucky i'm sitting on my bed when it does that, if not it'll hit the floor hard if i miss to catch it when it tries to decends my back. feels weird having it running around my back.


From my 30day experience, get a hammy from breeders, they r so much more tame and u can really interact with it as u spend more time with it. The male robos that i received was kinda "fierce", likes to bite my fingers and hands when i try to play with it. The female robos that i got from a shop recommended by Nezu, awesome breed, its much bigger in size, nice to play with and very tame. Thanks to Nezu for the great recommendation.

Just came back from PetZone in Uptown DU. They've got 2 cute WW and its really white. The boss say when they grow up, might turn brown. Izzit bcoz dirty then turn brown ? hehe

Wanna grab the pair, but dunno r they bro and sis or not, the boss say not la, can b trusted ah ? its WW with black eyes and pure white furs. Any advice from the gurus ?

I agree with Hun. PetShack has the best syrians and robos on offer bsides other breeders like Nezu, dien and co.

I got 1 of my robos from petshack. Awesome chick. Very tame, put it on my palm oso it won't jump off. Give it a light pet, help it brush it's fur and just very tame. Thats for a robos, which if i'm not mistaken are well known for hyperactive. haha


Hun: I dun intent to grab 2 of it, coz worry later if it fights, i might need 2 tanks haha but its really white fur. Not sure its RC or WW. If u got time, u go c c lo. Theres loads of Robos there, small and cute but seems tame too. I put my finger near, it takes a sniff and run away. I tried on other robos, from other petshops, it take a sniff and wanna bite my finger liao. Yikes. I'm sure my finger didn't smell like food hehe. I'll c if i got time go c c again and grab a photo. Just near my office only. The owner says about 3 months old, its looks about 1/2 the size of the syrians at Petshack.

sangels: I'm a beginner at this stage, so I took some advice from the experts here b4 i decide where to get 1. Actually my robos, i would say its about the size of 1/2 a syrian at Petshack. I've not seen the actual size of Nezu's Syrian, but I suppose they were as big as those in Petshack, so my robos is consider quite big size when compared with others that I've seen in other petshops. I think its all attributed to the good care given by the Petshack kind ppl. So, nowadays, I do make all the way to Petshack to get advice, stuffs and support good petshops, others like Petwonderland and PetSafari are for me to go look look around only.

Thanks to petshack i can actually allow the robos to climb on my palm on my left hand, and it'll walk across my back to my right hand and vice versa. Mine is a female robos by the way.

Surely u'll b tempted to grab a few home if you've got unlimited budget. hahaha I went there thinking to grab a hammy and a tank, ended up grabbing extras bedding, food, and even a nice new corner toilet. Temptation are high when there hammy are so lovely and makes u wanna spend more to give it a good place to stay. Grab the organic powder too if u can. Helps the hammy to grow better.

Kembara: Petshack's owner Joan will keep the dogs behind the counters b4 they open the door for customers to come in. Don't worry, they won't wanna make u hide in their toilet haha. When I was there, I was scared of dog earlier too, but the dogs there is so tame, u have no fear at all. I din had time to get to know them like Sangel, but spent more time on looking at the hammies. Its very hard to choose wan, all the robos and syrians are so big in size and cute makes u wanna buy all. haha

Sangel: wah, really buy alot woh. hahha. The place has too much temptation, especially when the hammy is even more cute, makes u wanna get good stuffs for it. Nice Jack Jack u got there. Oh u ask Joan to fit the bottle at the side for u ?

To all those going to Petshack, please dun grab all leh. Early next month i still wanna get another robos.
