One thing about Syrians, single cages for single hamsters hahahah.... now also I got 9 Syrians.... 9 cages...

Living World.... that is not a good bedding to use. Pine.... try and picture this.... do you know that most floor cleaners, disinfectants for hospitals and some air fresheners are pine? They use the oil, the phenols. Now imagine smelling that pine smell for 24/7.... you can actually get either lung infection, breathing disorder or liver failure. Experiments were done before to find out. Put a mouse in pine shavings, and a mouse in some other bedding. The one in pine shavings dies earlier and when dissected, the lungs are damaged.... This is why we must use bedding that is not pine. Chipsi uses Fir and spruce, slightly better than pine. Delikate, another type of softwood but is not pine for it has no pine smell.  Kaytee Pine is specially produced to get rid of the phenols. The best type of bedding is Aspen but none available in Malaysia, if there are, it would be hard to find.

Not everything produced by Habitrail are good. Their food is of so-so quality.... only their cages are not bad. If Prestige, only certain pet food are ok, their bedding is super dusty. The only pine shavings safe is Kaytee.

try giv them tissues..tear the tissues to pieces..they'll like it..my gf hammy roll into the tissues till turn like 'mayat' oredi..

yeah... he is one of my favourite hamster.... since small, he alwiz lose out in battle for food with his siblings... thats why i alwiz feed him separately until he big enough to compete with his siblings....  
he can be older, if not because of the unknown disease...

Just bought a Syrian from Pet Shack today with a 2 feet tank and some other stuffs. You can see that Jack Jack is hiding behind the Restaurant...

The funny thing is that he is digging everywhere non-stop... And biting everything... I was forced replaced the corner toilet with a porcelain bowl as the toilet...

Added some extensions to Jery & Remy's Safari. Thanks Hun for the parts.

for me, i consider my hamsters are happy when:
- they do not chew the cage often (when i used the bar cage)..
- they do not goyang-goyang their bottles..
- they cage is comfort enough for them..
- they become chubby and chubby and chubby from day to day..
- they become tame and tame and tame from time to time..
- and others..

Anyway, like what you said is true.

If the hamster doesn't chew on cage bars, dig at 1 corner all the time and doesn't destroy stuff, then that is a happy hamster.

If your hamster bite the bars for a few minutes, it is ok. A habit that even happy hamsters would do. But if the hamster bites for the whole night or more than 10 minutes, then the hamster is seriously bored and need some handling. Chewing the metal bars causes rust, which attracts the hamster coz of the metallic taste.... so it becomes a habit. So if a hamster does that, straight away give it something new to occupy it's mind. Veggies, a cardboard tube, some branches from a hibiscus tree, stale hard bread. Get its mind active by doing something else.

Normally those living in tanks won't have such problems.

Digging at 1 corner normally occurs in gerbils. Hamsters.... they would dig here and there, not always at 1 corner.... if at 1 corner, means he super bored already. Give it some hay and cardboard to do something.
Yah, I love to see my hamsters on their wheels.... they look happy and somewhat addicted LOL.

my bear seems like the ball alot ... she keep roll here n there. sometimes seem as if she purposely roll to me. wonder if she really can regconise me not.

Erm...For those who didn't see OVO suite before...I got it today...kinda expensive but i think i can afford it ...si i bought it...

THis little guy I saw him in a pet shop nearby my house...In The mall-the shopping mall oposite of PWTC/ Hotel Sri Pacific... Is quite big actaully...I got him yesterday...ANyway...He bite like hell...He bite me so many times and is not tame at all....He is fierce and aggresive...I am on my way to tame him...He is not that scare of me as before...But any methods to tame him more efficiently???

He is a funny guy...He looks like longkang mouse ....my sister said he looks like ratatouie....He is whole black with pinkish eye brown...And he is combination of many animals...when I touch him...he avoid me like cat....he walk like a cat... =.=

he sit like a bear ....like how human sit....when he bath...he scratch his hand like how human wash hand....he scratch his backside like a dog... but eat kuachi like hamster...he really looks like a bear when he is standing....looking at me...he bite like hell...and his speed of biting is extremely fast...his tooth is sharp...real sharp....dunno how he sharpened them.

Two ovo suite...lol...it is far too big for hams...they will get tired before they reach their energy plate ...lol. juz gotto add one or 2 more OVO  maze...i find that hams love maze...they will forget bout food and play with the maze for the entire day....but of course the cost is not cheap too....one maze simply cost few bucks and they can destroy it in one day.

and yea...ur baby is not whole black...pedobear is whole balck...lol...with pink eye brown...he seldom bite me after 2 days get along with him....he allows me to carry him now but is still shy...he will try his best to push my hand away with his hands. like human rite???
