I got hamsters .. Don't know what type but i think it's syrian..

Before this i was using tank.. Small tank for fish.. then feel like the home too small for 'em.. So i changed to big cage.. Now they kinda lazy already..
Then i read it here that tank is better than cafe.. sleep.gif".. waste money..

The wheel too small also for them.. at the middle got one stick of thingy that hold the wheel.. kacau only..

I use card board to cover the metal... Cannot last long.. one day change once till my home's cardboard all finish..

Syrian is the biggest hamster.... how big was the tank? For a Syrian, the best is a 1.5 to 2ft tank. Smaller than that of course lah no space. And you can only keep Syrian alone.

The best wheels are with a diameter of 8 inches. Those cheap wheels are too small, you need to get either Wild Silent wheel for Syrians or Whisper wheel that is 8 inches.

Of course cardboard cannot last long. You wanna give plastic? It will make your hamster dirtier. Don't be lazy lah, just change everyday. At home no more, go buy loh or go kedai runcit get the old boxes.
Hole, use a hot screwdriver or nail to burn a hole into the tank. Or another way is DIY a hanger so you do not need to make any holes.

Oh.. biggest hamster.. No wonder see other people's hams all tiny tiny only.. I just got bite today coz i kacau 'em sleeping.. laugh.gif

I don't know how many fts but quite big..

Keep 'em alone? i was thinking of getting another 2.. Now got 2.. one male n one female.. Will they breed? brows.gif

I want to get another wheel but not sure if can fit my metal cage or not.. I will get some tunnel for 'em.. Sunway pyramid got petshop.. will pay a visit there tomolo...

Maybe I want take off the metal.. Becoz below still got plastic.. thumbup.gif

Gawd... did you buy a cage that is meant for rabbits?

Goodness.... Syrian Hamsters cannot live in groups. You are going against nature and probably endangering their lives!!!! Please please please do research..... don't just think "since they don't fight ok mah"  Sooner or later they will fight and sooner or later, once the female gives birth, you won't have any baby hamsters but dead bodies since they will fight and eat the babies.
*
No wonder... Yesterday the female kena bite on the leg till cannot walk.. laugh.gif

Why the hell people buy/sell syrian? Meant for wrestling kar? vmad.gif

Last few years my sis got hamster also.. Babies all eat till finish.. doh.gif

Syrians hamster cannot be sold as pairs.... people buy them as pets but stupid petshops make people buy a few.... then later all die they blame the hamster... but actually must and should blame the stupid petshop.

You better separate the male and female. Breeding can also cause the female to have shorter lifespan and look haggard.... you wanna keep as pet, don't need to breed lah.
*
Oh... i purchase from one chinese pet shop here.. actually i want buy one only.. then the owner ask me buy 2 .. more members.. ACtually want more profit.. So, i agreed.. how stupid.. laugh.gif

Kinda learnt that syrian can be together.. just cannot put wheel or tunnel coz if any of 'em is blocking.. They will fight.. It's like they will fight to get something.. MAybe the style of hamster..
So, i put both in one tank.. Looks like they get along very well.. No more fighting like wat happened in the cage which has tunnel n wheel..
Went petshop in megamall yesterday.. My gf had her eye on dwarf but too bad that fella said WW even better... So, i purchased 2 WWs..
Damn the tunnel is so expensive.. I cannot afford to make 'em one castle.. doh.gif One 'r' shape cost RM 9.50.. doh.gif I was thinking of getting 20 of 'em.. sweat.gif Too bad..

u juz wondering...? means no info la..? juz using ur logic is it...? well... let me tell u what I'VE LEARNT about hamster... hamsters are nocturnal creatures meaning that they sleep all day and get up late at night... since most of us go to petshops during day time, u wont see their 'true behaviour'... they are either sleeping or sleepy...

who wanna fight when sleepy...? let alone sleeping... and one more thing... normally they will fight when they reach matured age... and most of the petshops sometimes sells babies... and if they fight and got 'casualties', the towkey definitely remove that hamster lor... crazy la if they keep the 'body' there... later who wants to buy...?
*
Of course not watching them when they sleeping.. sweat.gif
If they can get along in one tank.. no problem to keep 'em together .. If can't then have to seperate 'em... That's wat i've heard n quite true.. laugh.gif

well..according to my survey...sand bath got almost same price..between 10 to 12 ringgit...i saw these price at petaling street's petsmore, pets wonderland GEM dan Mid valley, pets safari..all almost same price if i am not mistaken..
but if you want rm5 one a cup...ask rene_blue in this forum..she sell sand bath in small packing..about size of bekas yougurt for rm5
*
Oh.. RM 10 - RM 12 is reasonable for me.. Can use how many times?

Btw, megamall's pet shop don't have.. I asked already.. sweat.gif

Rene_blue appears to be non-member in lyn... whistling.gif

Two questions :-
[1] Is that some kinda special sand or any sand will do for hams?
[2] Is it ok to let 'em stay with me in air-con room?

Actually I saw many people mod the storage box.. It's kinda big but problem is not so nice.. Have to watch 'em from above.. Prefer transparent type..

I guess there's nothing else for me to ask..
Now only think of decorating their house..
Pity Syrian live in 1.5ft tank only.. WW so happy can live in cage... Got tunnel and wheel..
