bro,

i need some advise from u regarding my air cond situation, my car air cond (satria 1.6, 1996) actually very cold till march this year(i bought it 2nd hand on 2009) where the air flow from the a/c vent start to block after some driving around 30 minutes, i need to off the a/c for a while then turn on then it will be ok and the a/c is still very cold, then the problem will repeat again and again as long as im driving.

i go to an a/c mechanic around my area(shah alam) on april and they told me that problem came from my thermostat sensor(rm140) which i need to replace. they said i need to service(rm110+ gas rm40) the a/c becoz the sensor is attached to the cooling coil. so i just agree with the suggestion. during the servicing process they asked me to replace the valve(rm140) near the coil and the filter(seems like a tube or can)(rm70) too. so i have paid rm500 for the job. sweat.gif

then the blocking problem have gone but i can feel the a/c is not very cold anymore. when i ask the mechanic they say its normal and asked me to wait around 2-3 days for the a/c to be normal back. I've waited for a week and the a/c still the same and i notice it not cold at all when its hot outside on afternoon and not so cold when its not hot outside during daytime and only cold during the night. unsure.gif

when i go back to the mechanic, they said may be need to top up the gas abit more(from 23psi earlier to 30 psi) and i end up paying another rm40. they asked me to test it around another week. no different after a week waiting then i go back to the mechanic again to complain. then they suggest me to re service back as they suspect something may be wrong and i may end up paying more if they encounter other problem within my a/c system. i started to get fed up with their behavior and i refuse to follow their advise at that moment. hmm.gif

so my question now, am i being conned here? what are the advise and solution for my problem? what is the estimation on the cost to fix the problem as im still a university student where my cash flow is not as smooth as working people. icon_question.gif

thanks.

thanks bro for your quick reply, really appreciate it biggrin.gif

the thing is, during my a/c service the mechanic deliberately top up the gas around 23psi and when i asked him why(as i heard it should be around 30-35psi normally), he said that 23psi is my car standard a/c gas quantity. but after a week the a/c constantly not cold during afternoon time, when i returned to the shop he said "maybe" need to top up some more until 30psi. so i end up need to pay again for the gas top up.

the the a/c situation still the same and no improvement at all( still hot during the afternoon time) after that. then when i came back again after a week then they asked me to do service again to check for another problem to the a/c parts and i need to pay more depend on what the problem or faulty part that they may found later. so i didnt do it and the problem persist until today. the thing that annoyed me was:

1. why didnt they do all the testing and checking during my first service, as i had notice that the aircond is not very cold anymore and they asked me to go back and use it first around 2-3 days first. and they said its normal like that. then its still the same after that

2. why did i need to top up the gas again later and pay again as i already tell them that they may not put the gas sufficiently during the servicing process.

3. tired of the "maybe" trend of the a/c shop around here that usually will fork out our money until 1k++ if we go for service(i and my mom "kena" oready many time before)

4. my a/c is still very cold before servicing with them even though got problem(air flow block if use the a/c more than 30 minutes)

so bro i need some enlightenment from u regarding this issue as i read a lot of good comment from u in this thread. thumbup.gif

thanks again for another reply bro rclxms.gif

based on your 3rd point, i think that maybe i should go n see u soon so u can do a proper checking and testing on my car air cond nod.gif

so bro, to do a proper checking on all my aircond system i assume u need to service my aircond first so u can check the aircond compartment 1 by 1 right?

can u quote me the service price for my car please? icon_rolleyes.gif
