Kindle is good on the eyes, compared with traditional tablets or laptop. Lighter, too, though a bit small. I think Amazon can deliver it to Malaysia, so you can check online for the pricing (they would include approximate tax/customs fee, too). I haven't bought the kindle, but I've done some Amazon shopping before, ranging from books (physical books, not ebook), it stuff, and what not. Didn't encounter any issue.

Paperwhite is ok, built in light for reading at dark places. Bought from Amazon and ship direct to Malaysia, but was stuck in custom and asked to pay for import tax, total cost about 500 plus range.

No matter how you look at it, kindle is the best. And they last very long so it's worth the investment. smile.gif

My previous Kobo Mini lasts 2 years until I sold it off, i bet it could have lasted me forever if i didn't get greedy and upgraded to Kindle paperwhite. Currently the device is at 3 years of age. smile.gif Still working like new. After all it's just reading.

Ebook format is .mobi or .azws which you can easily convert from any epub. If you buy directly from Amazon books of course the library is amazing.

I saw that the latest generation is Kindle Paperwhite 6 and it's selling at RM565 in Lazada. Maybe you should check that out? (I don't even know which generation I have)

Just use Calibre software to convert on PC. Simple Google will do the trick. If you buy books from Amazon then don't need to convert of course, it's stored in your Amazon account and will sync to whichever Kindle you sync to.

I myself download books so I will convert them before transferring to my Kindle via USB or etc.

And it's definitely better than reading on iPad. Your eyes will appreciate it.

I just bought one from lazada, 2018 version paperwhite + cover rm570 lol I'm a person of loving physical copies, but have no choice due to i am still renting room, no more room for me to store book. I haven't really start to read any book on kindle, as I'm still trying to clear my backlog, but guess i like the kindle, it's so cool ~ comfortable to read in a long time, support manga too smile.gif

Current version is Paperwhite 4. The price is reasonable if you purchase with the case.

RM500 - RM550.

The reason why people would recommend the Paperwhite 4 is due to its higher PPI.

Yeah it is amazing. I always joke with my friends that the only reason why people keep saying that they love physical copies is because they haven't really tried Kindle yet. Travelling to anywhere is so convenient now because you have a whole library with you anytime. And never needing to worry about bookmarks, and reading before sleep with the comfortable lights.

Bought a Kindle Paperwhite 4 during 9.9 sale on Lazada, rm470+ which is a steal. Initially thought I would prefer physical books too... But nothing beats a Kindle in terms of storage and it is so light! Only received the Kindle yesterday and already halfway reading a book.

I think the basic Kindle would be perfect for most people, especially since the latest generation comes with built-in front light. That used to be the biggest difference between Kindle and Kindle Paperwhite.

But I'm glad you found something for your niece! smile.gif

Kobo is alright. The ebook format doesn't really matter unless you pay for ebooks since you can just convert them via Calibre. By the way, anyone got the Paperwhite 4? Is it any faster than previous gens? hmm.gif

Eh? I'm using my Malaysian account and bought several ebooks without problem. It's just one-click to purchase.

Just realised something...
It turns out I have bought a kindle before. However, not long after, I managed to leave it in the car, which was parked under the sun in summer, in middle east. The screen stopped working 70% on the right side when I came back.
Note that temp in middle east in summer can reach 50C under the shadows.
I once left a can of sprite unopened. I came back to see it had already exploded, though thankfully no damage to the interior. And everything was dried out already. Leaving my car smelling kind of lemon/lime fresh.

Another option would be the PocketBook Touch HD 3. It's my preferred ebook reader and it's a fantastic alternative to the Kindle Paperwhite 4. It supports 20+ ebook formats (including comics) and has a smart light system that allows you to control the warmth of the front light (yellow light).

You can get it from us or from your preferred seller smile.gif
