Looking for a laptop for some light gaming (GTA V, PUBG)and for uni assignments. Preferably light weight (less than 1.8 kg if possible) as I have to carry it around the campus. Battery life doesnt matter but would be a plus point if it last long. Don't mind waiting for it as its not urgent.

Budget: RM 5.5k
Specs: I don't know much about itπŸ˜…

Was recommended to buy G14 and Onyx V but I'm not sure which one is a better choice. I was also checking on Prodigy already but saw quite a few user switch their purchase of Prodigy to Onyx V. πŸ˜… Right now can't decide between Prodigy Onyx V and G14

to be expected with Lenovo website, as these are customized and ship from overseas

but retail i think still hard to beat at rm2999 for online lenovo store
thanks, I'll be watching ur link

not much actually, just need a decent laptop for occasionally gaming (casual title like csgo, dota, or civilization), some twitch and light browsing, working wirh words and excel

thermal should not be a problem since i always on aircon room, just that i like thin bezel design like legion series, and battery not expect much from gaming laptop but as stated by u, 5 to 6 hour without gaming is pretty decent in my book.

How you know the pricing sure lower then ?

mega_shok.gif and the panel only 45 % color panel, I rather choose another spec with 15.6" FHD (1920x1080) IPS 300nits Anti-glare, 144Hz, 100% sRGB Gamut, Dolby Vision

QUOTE(snarkienoa @ May 26 2020, 05:33 PM)
Hi, I'm in the market for new laptop for 3D rendering.
I did my homework and I found these are my options.

Zephyrus g14 Ryzen 4900 8c/16t 2060mq
Onyx G 10th gen 8c/16t 2070mp
Onyx Pro 10th gen 8c/16t 2070mp
Selenite Pro 10th gen 8c/16t 2070mp
Y740 9th gen 6c/12t 2070(?)
Legion 7i 10th gen 6c/12t 2070mq

All of these within 6k-8k
Except for g14 and 7i, price unknown.

I'm leaning towards 7i, but then its hard to justify the price from lenovo canada and bhphoto on it being 6c/12t and 2070mq. North RM8k. I do have student discount. What is your take?

My budget capped at RM8k. Pls help advice.
Thanks!

choose a proper workstation with Quadro for 3D rendering work instead of gaming gpu

I'd love to, but I don't do cad. I do 3d with cpu renderer, and looking for possible gpu renderer. I've looked into thinkpad P1 quadro t1000 and find it hard to justify the price since the quadro card is based on gtx with different drivers with a price above my budget.

Gpu renderer is the way forward IMO. UE5 Demo showed us the path.
Adobe suite, 3dmax, C4d with redshift
Weight below 2.5kg (with the power brick), max battery life if possible

Do you think I'm better off with egpu setup? Any suggestion for that too?

Ah too bad.
Imo depends on usage. I'd like to be able to code and troubleshoot projects on the go. Which makes choosing the right one so hard.

Thanks bro.

The Lenovo 5i spec and pricing just released. Much better than current line up.

I got sku 81Y6005GMJ, with
i5-10300H, 100%sRGB,  16GB Ram, 1TB+256GB storage, 4zone RGB!, RTX2060 at RM4560. Wow!

Before discount, price is RM5699. I use LENXCIMB code.

Is this good buy?

Asus is a bit overpriced by looking at TUF A15 4800h+2060 costs rm5,699 and it's battery is not u.s 90wh but only 48wh for malaysia version.
But if you have the budget you can go for it since 4900h laptop seems to be asus exclusive for quite sometime, ROG g14 is smaller lighter better build quality overall but prices is also even more expensive, gaming performance is sacrificed for those advantage though.

Look at legion 5&5i lowest spec price difference is RM600, and legion 5i i7+2060 cost RM5.1k, i expect legion 5 4800h+2060 to be around 4.7k
