Hi sifu, I'm considering to get a new laptop/desktop to replace or working along with my current ux330.

My use cases for the new laptop/desktop are data science stuff / mining, support multiple monitors (at least 3), and maybe gaming in the futures.

My budget for laptop is around 5k (as low as possible) but willing increase it to around 6k for desktop.

My first question is there any better recommendation compared to the "Acer Nitro 5 AN515-55-79VX" at this price point? If I bought this laptop, I probably will increase the ram to 32gb on first day.

Second question, how is the thermal management (fan/ average temp) for this laptop?

And, because I'm worry about the system's longevity, so is it expected to change the thermal paste every 4 years in gaming laptop? Should I just get a desktop and use it along with my current laptop?

*I just changed the battery and thermal paste in my zenbook ux330 but it's still a bit hot and performing underwhelmingly with 2 external monitors.

Thanks in advance.

Legion 5 Pro is much better, but wait time is long

if you plan to use high performance paste, prepare to repaste every 1-2 yrs

if you don't need the portability of a laptop, get desktop - however they are also not cheap now especially DIYs

Just wondering, how do you get RM5028+ for the Legion 5 Pro with 3060 and RM5812+ with 3070? Is it with R7 5800H and 1TB SSD?

32 GB memory is an overkill. Have been using this for many months and my usage hardly goes over 8 GB! 16 GB is more than sufficient for daily use. Unless you are connected to more than 2 external monitors and many apps opening and running concurrently, then min. 32 GB is the way to go. 32 GB is good to have, but not necessary. RAM is not cheap nowadays. Price hike!

Promo code and maybe some tweaking of the warranty from Premium to regular Onsite?
