QUOTE(UrbanGraduate @ Aug 15 2019, 09:03 PM) Bro ZM Fong, just wanna say thank you over your pro tip recommendation After much deliberation, ordered the Lenovo Legion Y540 with 9th gen intel cpu, RTX 2060 and 16gb of ram When I received it, I loved the aesthetics (not too gamery like the ones from ASUS or MSI), no thermal throttling issues (so far) and performance was great overall May I know where you order from?

By the way, besides purchasing the laptops, gaming laptops esp, what cooling pad you recommend that we should purchase together? The other thread on cooling seems to 'promote' undervolting, thermal paste and stuff which I am not too keen to apply on the new laptop.

Ok. Thanks. So if given a choice of 'free' gift, between cooling pad or mouse, I will just choose the mouse.

Getting Started

Hi, i am finding a new laptop because my old laptop, which is a HP Pavilion and it has issue with the motherboard. So I am finding a new laptop now, I have a budget of RM3.2k. I am an engineering student so I need to do Auto CAD and programming with it. But sometimes I will play some light games like League of Legends and World of Warships. I also need international warranty because I study in overseas. For weight and battery life, I guess it might not be a problem because its always plugged in. So do you have any suggestion?

QUOTE(maxcwy2016 @ Aug 25 2019, 01:05 PM) Unfortunately I don't think there's a decent model under 3.2k with international warranty Acer Nitro 5 AN515-43-R9B3 has 1 yr international but specs are a bit weak Dell G7 7588 (i5+1050) has 2 yr premium support (including international) but again, specs a bit weak Asus has global warranty but FX series sucks, also their warranty service sucks

Because I wanted to buy a good laptop to at least last a good 5 years. This post has been edited by maxcwy2016: Aug 25 2019, 01:47 PM

Sifu ZM Fong, any idea how's the thermal performance of the recently released Illegear Raven SE-R? I did a lot of digging but can't seem to find any info about the thermal performance of the Raven SE-R. Also did you do some real life thermal testing on the Helios 300 2019 variant? How's the temp compares to the 2018 verson? I've seen some figures online but its better to get some proper query from here. Thermal wise Lenovo Legion Y540 RTX2060 or Acer Helios RTX2060, which one will cool better?
