Hi guys,
I’m currently looking for an ultra book with the following preference:
-thin and light (below 1.4kg) -not for heavy gaming (max also maybe csgo) -4K display is an advantage -preferably i7 gen10 -ssd500gb -16gb ddr -budget below 6k if possible
I have short listed:
X1 carbon, yoga c940 and x390. Please advise and suggest other brand if I missed out any good models out there.

QUOTE(ZM Fong @ Mar 7 2020, 03:16 PM) May I know why would you want a 4k display? Mostly for 4K movies and video streaming. Also, 10th gen ULV (CML, IL) isn't really faster than 8th gen ULV (KBL-R, WHL) I’m ok to that as I need a i7 mainly to run afew business software I.e. ifca, and afew data analytics software at once during work and any lag or hang issue will really be a no no. Mind low sRGB display and non-upgradeable RAM? Any preference on battery life? Need dGPU/decent iGPU? Preferabally a non srgb and upgradable ram. But I can live with a 16gb non-upgradable ram.

QUOTE(BeastX @ Mar 7 2020, 03:20 PM) Specifically 4k....Yoga slim7 (14) I don’t mind picking the yoga. But also to add on: I don’t need a touch scree that the yoga is offering, The thinkpad keyboard is really an advantage.

QUOTE(ZM Fong @ Mar 7 2020, 05:20 PM) FYI i5 ULV and i7 ULV don't have much performance difference Keep in mind that UHD/4k display will have shorter battery life and windows scaling issue in general. You still prefer 4k display? Erm batter life wise I’m ok cause I don’t work continues for long hours max I think about 4-6 hours stretch before I take a break and can do 1-2 hours charging. 4K wise I guess I still can live with a uhd since 14” I think won’t make a big diff. low sRGB = colours less vibrant. I guess you need high sRGB? Ya I need a high srgb, made a mistake in my reply earlier.

QUOTE(BeastX @ Mar 7 2020, 05:38 PM) Actually the Yoga slim 7 (14).... does not do the 360 Yoga.. and has not touch/pen support....limited to 8gb (lenovo my) RAM though Ya that’s why I opt for the c940 since they offer th 16gb

QUOTE(BeastX @ Mar 7 2020, 05:42 PM) However i7 10710U big difference... 2 additional cores... Was thinking the same too. And I plan to keep the laptop for a few years so i7 might help before I need to get a new replacement.

QUOTE(BeastX @ Mar 7 2020, 06:06 PM) it's the long in tooth 14nm..... wait for a month or 2 for the 8 core 4000 series @7nm Will that 8core be an issue given my budget below 6k? I don’t need an over kill processor.

QUOTE(ZM Fong @ Mar 7 2020, 07:15 PM) Since Thinkpad X1C G7 UHD is out of your budget, might want to stick with consumer grade laptops Can consider Lenovo Yoga C940 customize (i7 only if want 4k display) or Yoga Slim 7 14 customize (not convertible, with low power MX GPU, max 8GB RAM since Lenovo doesn't provide upgrade for whatever reason) that one is exception, and it's still rare to be found (since it's expensive due to being a binned chip) The x1 carbon g7 is going for about 6.2k will all the discount which I don’t mind topping up. Will it be a good buy given my requirements?

QUOTE(ZM Fong @ Mar 7 2020, 09:30 PM) If you want better guarantee on reliability then yes Any idea for the units that the Lenovo website states “ship in 5 days” takes to arrive in kl? I check with the online customer care they told me can receive in 7-8 working Days while ppl from Lenovo digital mall said usually 7-8 weeks.

QUOTE(BeastX @ Mar 8 2020, 11:48 AM) Given that many factories in China are off-line... it'll be difficult to give a time even by Lenovo themselves... especially with customised parts (build to as the order comes in..)... Does the non custom models also have such delivery issue?

QUOTE(ry8128 @ Mar 8 2020, 03:58 PM) I would say u must factor in minimum delivery time (after ship out) of at least 1 week, due to its famous license missing issue. All 3 lenovo i bought facing this issue. Just got the X1 Carbon ordered on 8 March wohoo
