example, if you buy property with joint name with wife, if wife not working, they'll send wife a tax bill = ( installment x 12 x multiplier x tax rate ) x ( 1 + fine ) a year or two later.

you need to prove really no income before they reverse it.

but you still have to layan lhdn coz they can make your life very miserable. many tax consultants will even ask you to pay first and then show proof to claim back, but if you have balls and a iron clad case, i won't coz taking money back from lhdn is bad juju
