Water pump room by design and building regulations, minimum must have double layer brick walls with solid rc roof/floor. Also the doors must be fire rated door which also acts as a noise barrier. Depending on the design of the system itself usually water pump have 2 units, fire protection having 2 units, 1 for sprinkler and 1 for hose reel. These pumps only works when there is a fire. For water pumps, 1 shall be duty and the other standby. So at 1 time only 1 will be using. Usually the noise should be negligible. Only issues would be if there is some maintenance/repair works, it will get busy along your corridor if it is the only access to the room.

What you do not want is to have your condo next to a AHU room, and/or above or below directly for that matter. This is the airconditioning system that have huge air handling units, ducting, filters, etc etc. These equipment are noisy and they do vibrate too.

What is AHU room?

Air handling unit = AHU = Air-conditioning system. AHU different from split unit AC, but both supply cool air.

AHU room have big capacity fans, thus noise is an issue.
