judging from the current news of next gen game size and the price of the expandable storage from other side (RM1K for 1TB)... it doesn't looks good IMO
- 1TB gonna get filled up very fast - Still no news from Sony on how we can upgrade the SSD storage, 1TB NVME PCIE 4 SSD also cost a bomb nowadays, RM1k+, doubt Sony is generous enough to add in a secondary storage slot |

Should have. You may need to purchase the PlayStation move controller though. Some games like just dance allows you to use ur mobile phone as controller as well. I expect franchises like just dance to be coming on ps5 as well but granted switch will have even more game choices though quality will varies |

QUOTE(tohff7 @ Sep 25 2020, 10:42 AM) where? mind sharing the source? AFAIK Sony only said the storage is expandable, but never said how IMO an additional NVME slot for storage upgrade which majority of us won't be using is very unlikely It's effectively killing off their own future consoles revision with higher storage capacity Why would I go buy a new 2Tb version of PS5 if I can just go buy off the shelf 1TB SSD that's compatible and plug it in? or just go buy a much cheaper 512Gb SSD to make it 1.5Tb? MS is doing it differently, at least they'll profit from the sales of their proprietary expansion module, and MS is always very anal about upgrade/changing your own storage. |

The new Samsung 980 Pro is in my mind, no doubt on Sony's whitelist of NVME PCIE4.0 SSDs already.
That's the kind of drive you need to about match the internal one. |

QUOTE(greyshadow @ Sep 25 2020, 02:29 PM) IMO an additional NVME slot for storage upgrade which majority of us won't be using is very unlikely PS3 & PS4 sales history shows there is no "effectively killing off their own future consoles revision with higher storage capacity".It's effectively killing off their own future consoles revision with higher storage capacity Why would I go buy a new 2Tb version of PS5 if I can just go buy off the shelf 1TB SSD that's compatible and plug it in? or just go buy a much cheaper 512Gb SSD to make it 1.5Tb? As drive prices goes down per storage size with time, the newer revisions console with larger drives still hovers around the price range that is never below 50% of the original retail launch price. Also, the PS5 custom SSD has 6 priority levels vs 2 priority levels of commercial NVME SSDs. (continue the video after 22:05 onwards) Buying a compatible off the shelf 1TB or 512 GB SSD while pairing it with older model may not be cheaper than buying 2TB version of PS5. Not to mention about "non-techie" owners may not bother to perform the storage expansion by checking which compatible SSD to buy and then doing the upgrade no matter how simple the process are. Sabrent Rocket 4 Plus & Adata XPG Gammix S70 7Gb/s drives are also potential candidates. That's the kind of drive you need to about match the internal one. The issues are does the heatsinks fit or it needs to be removed and paired with Sony's or it must operate without attaching any heatsinks ? Or are 2280 size too large and need shorter form factor ? |
