4K already cannot see pixel even when close up the screen. 8K, IMO, is only suitable for really big screen....like 75" and above.
4K also not really utilised, now 8K

QUOTE(zeese @ Apr 12 2019, 02:57 PM) people always saying the same thing over and over again, when tv moves from 1080p to 4k... and when phones starts using full hd & 4k screen.. Because 4K TV is now cheap. And because you can't buy bigger TVs at 1080p. Not that people buying to upgrade to 4K in droves. i just bought one recently. Because old TV screen cracked. Tu jer.Even Netflix, the best source of 4K movies/tv shows on the planet...the 4K contents are ....so little. PS: I did try close up to check pixels on my 4K TV when playing 4K videos. Can't find pixels. This post has been edited by skyforcerld: Apr 12 2019, 03:00 PM |

QUOTE(kevinlim001 @ Apr 12 2019, 03:03 PM) agreed that 4k tv is underutilized. those movies we liked a lot (Transformers, Avengers) mostly are done using CGI and for CGI they are struggling over high resolution rendering. Render in HD only? Sounds a bit unbelievable...PS4 can render Horizon Zero Dawn with HDR in real time. Despicable ME cannot do 4K with a 20,000 computers rendering farm OFFLINE? if complex scene like Avengers CGI maybe need more power...but most animation are hardly photo realistic. But i dunno lah, i am not expert. Just doesn't seems logical.https://www.flatpanelshd.com/news.php?id=14...action=showfull Even its a 4k bluray movie but their CGI scenes are all being upscaled. QUOTE(incubus_skj @ Apr 12 2019, 03:05 PM) Doesn't matter. If you watch 55" 8K TV source 8K, from a distance of 8" (normal TV viewing distance). You won't be able to tell the difference or zoom into the pixel.btw, i don't think there is real 8K TVs anyway in consumer market. SHARP's 8K is a fake 8K TV, but it does have some very pratical technology to improve the image quality. https://www.t3.com/news/how-sharp-turned-a-...vel-technomancy This post has been edited by skyforcerld: Apr 12 2019, 03:42 PM |

QUOTE(mois @ Apr 12 2019, 04:10 PM) It doesnt matter if you can see difference or not. Now most smart TV is 4k. Might as well just buy it. Unless you can find HDR 1080p at cheap price. 4k tv watch 1080p also not bad. Maybe only can see difference if sit only 2.5-3m away. But who gonna sit that close? FormalCatShare with you guys. Got chart here about viewing distance and perceivable difference between 4K and 1080p together with TV size. https://www.rtings.com/tv/learn/4k-ultra-hd...caling-compared But yeah, most TV nowadays 4K. When buy new TV, just make sure you buy 4K with HDR and preferably Android TV. But i do notice there is difference at 8 feet from 4K TV comparing with 1080p, in general. Just not that big of difference, or until can zoom into pixel. This post has been edited by skyforcerld: Apr 12 2019, 04:33 PM |

QUOTE(shadowglow @ Apr 12 2019, 04:39 PM) dont think even Europe can even stream 4k over to tv content.. You meant broadcast? Like our local DTV only broadcast 1080i max....Dolby Digital also dun have..few years ago, even 1080 quality they only could stream 1080i and not 1080p quality. it's about interlacing and progressive if im not mistaken on the terms. Streaming is on internet, Currently only NETFLIX and Youtube has any sort of 4K contents...but even these are highly compressed. A 4K Bluray disc will have bitrates from 80Mbit/s to 128Mbit/s. Netflix is only 25Mbit/s, so you can imagine the reduced quality. I think broadcasting is currently impossible and nowhere in the world has 4k broadcast. |
