Hi, are there any battery powered dashcam that doesnt need installation and wires etc? Just put somewhere on dash and record?

Can slowly wait for some manufacturer to make a battery-powered, doesn't need installation and wireless dashcam sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif

Actually got. Use your mobile phone as a dashcam laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

In another words, you would suggest to get the A129 Plus instead of A129 Pro?  smile.gif

Actually, 4K is more of an overkill to me. But the final choice is yours.

Nine years ago I used an actual camera as my dashcam… And that thing doesn’t even do 720p…

I would get the A129 Plus if the video quality is better than A129 Pro.

I've been using A129 Pro for almost 2 years now. Used 4K only for a month. Then I dialed down to 2K ever since laugh.gif

A dashcam would play a integral part in the event the vehicle owner needs undisputed evidence to go for/against an dramatic event.. to cheap out on one or use a device which may not necessarily be ideal in performing that function will/may instill some false hope & doing so one has to manage their expectations.

I've had several friends/family members who though that why get RMxxx dashcam, when can get RM50...only to find out the quality is just above what we could get from a pasar malam VCD of the latest movie to hit the GSC (a.k.a, cant see shiet)

I too had a phone function as a dashcam even BEFORE dashcam were known in malaysia, I was using my Nokia N8 with some DVR software. But that takes away from the function of the phone, unless one has 2 phones, but then comes a question why get 2 phones but not a proper dashcam.

Better you message ddpai and see what they say.

And no you cannot add on other brands of the rear cam. The dashcam will not recognize it.

DDPai Z40 users out there... Wanna ask...

Is the front camera 4:3 ratio only...? Funny that the rear cam is widescreen but the front is not...

And the video quality only got 1944P and 1080P...? No options for High, Medium, and Low bitrate...? Coz I'm not quite satisfied with the video quality...

Z40 is considered a budget dashcam. Front cam change to 1080p and you'll have a widescreen format like the rear. The 1944p is a weird resolution.

Change bitrate settings only Viofo has.

Just got myself an X50. Consider buying a dashcam because my car got scratched twice at my own parking lot in one week.

Since it's going to be long-term, I have set a max budget of RM2.5k. When I was googling, I found IRoad X10, which is around RM2k.

I'm not an expert in this area. Can some Sifu give some advice? Is there any better alternative that suits my needs?

Aside from what a normal dashcam can provide, I also need "parking monitoring" feature.

Parking mode is a priority then better look at Korean dashcams.

Look at Thinkware or Blackvue.

iRoad you might need to research a bit in the Singapore forum 1st.

You can hardwire with a 2-wire hardwire kit.

many ways:

a) get a 2 output cig-usb adapter
b) tap from any ignition only 12v fuse from fuse box
c) tap power from back of the cig port
d) get a cig port pigtail & tap from any ignition 12v & can hide it behind dash

but I hope when you say "no need parking mode" you dont mean "no need hard wiring" laugh.gif

Means original normal 3 wire hardwire kit also works as long as the one live cable to the battery not connected?
